    Relax by The GC Star

This is the last song I recorded before starting the album I'm working on. It's the first "The GC Star" song, and was mixed by Mr. Don Casale a wonderful lifelong engineer. His most famous album engineering is Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. I've known Don since the 80s. Relax | The GC Star

    Where the grasses lie

This is a song I would listen to if I didn't hear it here. I might not use the proper terms, but, I'll try to explain. This has to do with arranging. You have the drums, bass, a low keyboard or guitar part and a picking guitar in the opening. The picking guitar is lead. At 24 - 31 seconds...

    One Mistake

Thanks. My high end in my ears is pretty bad. But, I kept thinking I heard the crash a bit too much. I guess it was. I personally can't hear the regular cymbal at all. Those notes are the Snow Effect on music. I'm the most imperfect musician you'll ever hear. Thank You! I'm trying.

    One Mistake

I thought I was done recording for a while. But, this song came to me. Perhaps it's because it's my newest song, I think it's pretty cool. I think the mix is there. But... One Mistake by Frances Farmer My Hero | Free Listening on SoundCloud

    Shine On Me

Sounds great. The vocal arrangement is especially good, with a very nice build.

    Kate's Song

Thank you. It took a while to figure out how to do that. The really stupid part is, I used delay on a song a week ago. You'd think I'd have just gone into that song and looked at the adjustments I made to point me in the right direction. Nah, just keep moving buttons till it starts to sound...

12 years later with practice - I would really appreciate your opinion

I can not tell you anything about pitch. Because I have no idea. Your tone is fine. You sing with no confidence. I can't sing. But, when I do my vocals, I do it with the confidence that a singer needs and the song demands. It's the same as anything else in life. Give it your all.

1 minute instrumental metal - feeback pls

I don't listen to metal. So, I don't know if there's a call for 1 minute pieces. It sounds great. It just needs a song written around it. I will say, about many of the metal pieces I've heard on this site, they seem formulatic. Are they like that in the produced/released side of metal? I only...

    Kate's Song

I was told a while ago that the pledge was so badly out of key that many wouldn't listen to it. They thought the rest sounded fine. I replaced the singing class pledge (taken from youtube) with a spoken version of my own. So, hopefully the out-of-key stuff is gone. But, with me, you never know...

my first mix to get airplay

It sounds good. I hated Bon Jovi's original. So, the song choice isn't for me. But, as a band you folks sound really good.

    Are There Recordings With Clipping?

I use Pro Tools 6 on the earliest Mac G5. So, to say my system is antique (for these times) is an understatement. I've found now that automating the aux inputs that have the reverb don't always work at all. One word was hitting red. So, I lowered it in the aux and I had it down to 0 and the...

My epic prog tune LOL, mix opinions please! E Phrygian Dominant of course! :-)

I have the original vinyl of Journey (from when it was first released), and within the past few years bought the DVD concert from when Wakeman toured with it. I also used to love Emerson, Lake and Palmer and saw them in 77 along with bands like Yes. So, I knows me some prog rock. The only...

    Spree (KILLER)

I took it down it sucked. Here's the latest version I think this might be close... It's one of my favorites of the new bunch. Plus I wrote it in less than fifteen minutes (acoustic and vocal) Spree by Frances Farmer My Hero | Free Listening on SoundCloud

    Are There Recordings With Clipping?

Thanks everyone. I've fixed that problem. It's a ME thing. I did have a strange one. It wasn't necessary so I deleted it. At the end of the song there's 3 crashes on a cymbal. I kept lowering it and it still hit the red. I was -28 solo, you couldn't hear it unless the speakers were cranked...

    Are There Recordings With Clipping?

I keep my Master Fader at 0. None of the tracks are recorded hot. They're all recorded well (as well as I can do). None hit the red on 0. I never have to push them up for them to be heard. I can blend fairly well. Maybe 2 or 3 times in a song, usually on a vocal word, the meter will nudge...

    Spree (KILLER)

This is hopefully the last one I need to ask opinions on. It's a mammoth. The one thing I do know, I hate the opening and closing vocal. The reverb drenched before the lyrics come in. Spree C by Frances Farmer My Hero | Free Listening on SoundCloud

    If You Liked THE MUFFS

I used to follow The Muffs around the east coast for years. If you're a fan, you know Kim passed away in October from ALS. I made this video tribute. It's nice, if you're a fan.

    Ashleigh's Eyes 2 Mixes

Thank You. I was considering upping the drums. But, I really want it to just feel like a jam at the end of the song. I used to play the acoustic part for years on my couch watching TV. When I got around to recording it, I didn't stop playing and that ending came about. Ashleigh was someone I...

A softie song for my grandchild, hense the name of it.

It's a sweet song. It can use some backing vocals to make it pop. Other than that, when they're grown, they can say "my granddad wrote and recorded this for me." Nice job. Way back when, I wrote and recorded two songs for my wife (both horribly out of key), bought film and shot 8mm, then edited...
