How Do You Store Your Cables?

Unless they become an unruly mess, in which case they'd be referred to as "rabble." :D

Recording (electric) bass for the non-bass player

What you're describing is most often caused by dead strings. Try a fresh set of DR or other quality brand string. Unless you're purposely going for a Motown kind of sound...

reaper recording levels low on playback

So what you're saying is that if you recorded something that was peaking at around -10db or so in Reaper, it shows much lower than that when you play it back? Or do the meters display roughly the same and it's just quiet when you listen to it?

    Old tube amp tech question....

FWIW, I have one of those amps, and use it quite frequently in my studio, as well as for some jamming. Irrespective of the position of the ground switch, I've never been shocked by it. Yet... I think I'll go do some testing. Maybe go ahead and mod it Let' see, where did I put that box of old...

    Interface for drums

Not squeaky clean, but I've used worse. Inputs 9 and 10 (1/4 on the front) double as DI inputs for guitar. So far I've recorded with Cubase, Reaper, and Audition 3.0. I have mine in a little rack/bag and use it for mobile recording mainly. Great little unit.

Mixer advice needed - routing click track to separate outputs

https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=314150 I've been using one of these for a long time, and it's more than capable of what you want to do.

I also use them for running line level signals (from amps, keyboards, etc.) back to my interface.

Any Bang For Buck USB Audio Interfaces Out There?

I picked up an Alesis Multimix 8 USB for a little over a hundred bucks to do quick recordings of rehearsals. It's served double duty as a mixer for silent rehearsals using DIs and eDrums.

    Basic bass amplifier info wanted

Yeah, I've been gigging on bass for the last 25 years or so, and solid state is definitely more reliable. My favorite amp for larger outdoor gigs is an old solid state Randall guitar head driving a 2X12 and a 1X15 cab. I don't know what they used in the power supply of that thing, but it has...

A Tale Of Two Tape Decks

Tht list was an intense walk down memory lane. In my decade or so of repairing consumer/pro audio I worked on many examples of just about every item on your list. I can still smell the Scott's Liquid Gold from polishing the wood cabinets after I repaired a lot of those units. LOL!!! The input...

Live Recording in a Blues Club.

Depending on your live mixer, it may be possible to mic the instruments/amps and mix them as well as the vocals through an unused bus to the tape machine to get the balance you want. You have to be careful of phasing and other issues when mixing a feed like that with ambient mics. If you don't...

Need help...replace two back-to-back polar caps with one bipolar?

C33 and C36 should be your main filter caps. The 1000uF caps are for the plus and minus 15 volt supply sections.

IMHO the Holy Grail of practice/studio/small gig amps is the Ampeg B15. You can occasionally find the solid state version (B15T) quite modestly priced. They're portable, loud as hell if you need it to be, sound like an Ampeg and will fit in the passenger seat of a two seater sports car.
