    Get your wood cone monitors...

This was so freaky I had to post it! http://www.jvc.com/Presentations/WoodConeSpeakers/

Anyone think I should bother to try to isolate drum mic's for zero leakage from Kik?

Another option would be to use triggers.

    condenser mic as an interface

I've had fine results with the built in audio inputs on Apple products. Their AD converters are better than I ever thought they would be. While the inputs are stereo, GarageBand allows you to record dual mono tracks from stereo inputs.

    24/96 Vs 10/10lt - Quality or quantity

The Audiophile is probably similar enough. The Delta 1010LT supports the same bit/sample rates, so that's no different, and if you have both the Delta and Audiophile installed at once, you might be able to use them simultaneously (for 12-16 inputs, depending on if you have/use SPDIF components)...

    Grounding?

The amp makes noise from the XLR DI out to the mixer with nothing plugged into it. The keyboards and mixer do not have grounding pins on them. How do I make a sheild lifted cable?

    Grounding?

Let me just be clear--there are no grounding issues when going from the keyboard/module into the board. Just the amp to the board. I'm not understanding this shield lifting thing at all. It also sounds virtually useless in live applications I come across where sound techs hook up their own XLR...

    Monitors for a laptop....

I have the DX4s... they seem all right to me. Certainly better and more accurate than any headphones I have ever used.

    Is this ready for CD/Radio?

My goodness that sounds huge and odd. I agree that the vocals sound unusual. Some pitch problems too, or maybe just wrong harmonies! Sorry dude, that's just how it is.

    Our first original demo

It would benefit from a real or more realistic acoustic piano. ;) Too much reverb on the piano for my taste. There are some rhythm problems too--piano is dragging in places. The backup vocals sound a hair late. That's the best I can do. Sounds pretty good otherwise.

    Grounding?

The amp is plugged into the power strip that the power strip the board is plugged into. The XLR out from the amp was going to be my way to eliminate the need for a direct box, at least for stage performances. Here in the studio I usually plug right into the board.

    Grounding?

I just bought a used Crate KBA-150 keyboard amp. It's very old looking but sounds pretty good. I have one major problem so far. It has an XLR output. I connected it to my mixer and I get a hum. Adjusting the volume, eq, basically any controls on either the amp or the mixer and I can't make...

a sneak preview from my new CD

Sounds good to me overall. Very nice production. The drums sound a tad thin, maybe? I'd like to hear a thicker sound, especially on the cymbals.

Pro 25- Kick on a budget?

I was advised to use a Superlux FK-2. I picked one up for $50 on eBay (new) It sounds good.

SB Audigy (don't laugh) to M-Audio410

It's very possible that there is something wrong with the physical jack on Audigy. When headphones are plugged in a certain way (bordering half in/half out), the phase will cancel and it would sound like a vocal remover has been applied.

    Vocal Places

We had that same ambition when doing some vocal overdubs for our demo. They were recorded in a small damp sounding basement room. We thought it would be good. It wasn't. It sounded like a damp basement room. The natural reverb of the room did not help the recording.

    Live drums through PA

I've never played at a rock club/bar without a PA. Said clubs always Mic or DI everything. Said clubs are on the smaller side. I don't get it, but it works for me. Of course, I would prefer the sound person to have control over the balance any day. EDIT: We've had soundboards done in the...

    snare or chunky ass?

I wasn't aware that people were tuning drum heads to notes in songs they play these days. I think you may be looking at this in too technical an aspect. The snare and kick are the two drums I am most worried about in my upcoming sessions, and hopefully I will be able to find a placement I like...

    Explosive P's

Do you even have the individual tracks on the computer? If you're working with a two track mix from the Tascam you'd be ediitng the whole mix which would not work.

making the drums reall bang! for you hiphop heads

The way you're describing it I wouldn't necessarily call it music. :/ There are plenty of people on this forum who are not novices and simply have been on the forums longer than you. And metalhead was completely correct. High levels of compression often do sound like shit. I find no reason for...
