So I've recorded the drums... now what?

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying about the kick... Mic was hardly in the kick for much of the session until I inched it in a bit.

    First Drum Session

(This is not a complete mix, but I figure more people may see it here and be able to help) Had a short but educational session yesterday recording the drums for our new EP. There's a lot of stuff to be worried about here. I don't think our drummer was playing his best, but I'm mainly concerned...

Configuring playback with monitors and a headphone amp

There may arise a situation where I'm not in one room, and want to track through monitors like the pros do. ;)

So I've recorded the drums... now what?

Had a short but educational session yesterday recording the drums for our new EP. There's a lot of stuff to be worried about here. I don't think our drummer was playing his best, but I'm mainly concerned with my mic placement. I'm not liking some of the sounds I'm getting, and I could use some...

Configuring playback with monitors and a headphone amp

Apparently not. At least from my poking around it does not. I'll check the PDF manual (or actually hunt down where I put the real one!) and see if there are any options. From what I can tell it only allows me to route tracks to specific outs or buses, but never more than one at a time.

Configuring playback with monitors and a headphone amp

Once again, I use the mixer for mic preamps not for monitoring. There are simply not enough separate buses for more than 6 tracks. Think I need a software routing solution. I need to make Logic play through outs 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.

Configuring playback with monitors and a headphone amp

I could had I enough aux buses. But I don't. They are all being used.

Configuring playback with monitors and a headphone amp

I do, but I only use it for the preamps on channels 3-8 into the Delta. I'll be using the XLR ins on 1 & 2 which are separate from the mixer.

Configuring playback with monitors and a headphone amp

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out the best method of setting up my new headphone amp to tie it in with my existing setup. Right now, I'm using the first two outputs of my Delta 1010LT, from the monitor mixer, and run this to my monitors. I use Logic to record with, and I just realized...

Is There A Keyboard That Lets U Import Your Own Wav. Samples

Another route would be a controller keyboard and a sampler module. I'd love a sampler module, but if I get a good MIDI adapter, my laptop may do.

    Adding compression to d&b

Wrong forum. Try "The Rack" -- you might get better results. Sound Modules refers to MIDI tone generators.

Best way to get rid of "hiss"

I would check the path of everything first. Does the amp hiss with nothing plugged in? How about just the guitar plugged in? Then try effects units. Could simply be cables, bad electronics. Always try to isolate and correct the real problem instead of hiding it.

    m-Audio Delta 1010LT question

Yes! :) You can record from all 10 inputs at once, if your software allows for it (and if you can make use of the SPDIF. I don't have any SPDIF devices/preamps so I've never tried it).

    m-Audio Delta 1010LT question

The preamps in the Delta aren't exactly real preamps. They just have the ability to record at Mic level. You won't be able to use condensors, so keeping the ART would be a good idea. I only use mine to plug the occassional dynamic in. The 1010LT has 10 inputs and outputs. not two. There are two...

    Huh???

That website is chock full of useless (and potentially lethal) mixing and mastering information. I thought that some of the newbies here were misinformed, but the guy I chewed out here is just.. well, see for yourself. http://www.record-producer.com/learn.cfm?a=44&c=post

    Help... recording drums

Here's a post we haven't seen 8 ka-jillion times before. I think the Newbie forum should be placed up higher in the forum listing. I'll agree with Ford Van.

    XLR Splitter?

Well, that sounds like a high budget option for a simple request. What they guy wants to make is a small cable that has one female XLR for the mic that goes out to two male XLRs. Sounds simple enough to create, but will it work? EDIT: Seems I completely skipped over a big portion of the...

    distored vocals for live use

I think that one of the harmonica mics would work best. As for having two mics onstage, think of it as having both an acoustic and electric guitars.

    Recording Drums with 2 Channels

When we did our demo in March, I had never engineered anything with drums before, but thankfully I'd been visiting these forums. However, I had hardly enough gear at that point to do what I wanted, but I did have 8 channels to go in with, for which I only ended up using 7 anyways. All the...
