Drums are weak. Kick is undefined. Bass guitar is muddy. Intro goes way too long. I got tired of hearing the same thing after 1:30 and turned it off.

I'm plan my leads as I would plan the rest of the song. I double the leads most of the time too. I'll go as far to make sure the vibrato of bends and such are timed correctly to the tempo of the tune. It's things like that, that will separate the men from the boys.

On the general subject of doubling a track. If you can't play the same thing twice almost identically, then either A you don't really know the part and should practice it or B you suck and should practice.

Sorry, but I happen to know a professional drummer who works with the likes of 38 special and skynard and he uses a click track with in ear monitors live. My guess is it's more common than you think.

That stuff doesn't have a lot of mid range instruments in it. That's what would be effected most by the smiley

Not everyone is affected by this. I practice without an amp all the time. Sometimes I use a little battery powered 3" speaker amp. I doesn't make a shittin bit of difference to me.

Send that dual rect to voodoo amps. The eq will work when they get done with it.

That's what I do but I know there's been a number of times I have someone put something in their car and it just kind of sounds like ass until the flatten the eq out. I guess that's really all you can do.

on their playback devices do any of you mix with this in mind? Or, is it best to mix so it sounds the way you intend it to? Some of the stuff the I've done doesn't sound right with the mids scooped and low end cranked because I've already done that to a point when I mixed it. Just wondering...

This guys bass sucked bad enough with one track. That's all I need is another track of garbage in there. LOL Maybe if it was a nice bass that would work. :D

Yeah, don't ever let any project leave the premise unless they are paid up to date. If they are paid up to date and want a copy of what's been done, no problem. That's what I do anyway. If I have a no show, I just make them bring me a 12 pack the next time the come. Works for me. :)
