    See, I find just the opposite. Ghost notes are in the overheads and only the CRACKS come from the snare mic. That is, if you plan it this way and set the gates properly.

    I use delta 1010 into cubase. Preamps are all my allen-heath gl2200 board. A few good mics sm57, d6 md421 m201. Mixed in the box.

    Must be something wrong. Clarity lies in the mid range so if you are losing it, there could be issues. Buy some new tubes, they're not that expensive. Eurotubes.com will hook ya up cheaper than most.

    The suck knob on my rectum-fryer works just fine. So does the rest of the eq section. But it made a trip to voodoo and had some work done on it. You can't just assume that every one of the rectifiers is garbage or the presence control is instant suck. I think you are probably right in this...

    The bass has certain notes that are way boomy and kind of POP out at ya. the rhythm guitar is pretty much a wash of fizz under the bass. A nice fat/crunchy rhythm guitar would be nice. The lead tone works. I don't mind the reverb either.
