    microtonal rock song

interesting genre of music... reminds me of the Indian (from Asia, not USA) influenced music from the 60s and psychadelic stuff too. Unfortunately, it's not a genre that I am particularly fond of, so i didn't really like the tune =(. But definitely sounded unique and interesting hehe. The...

    Bass soloing

a lot of the bass solo's i like have a tight rythmn and play around with like pauses in the beat and stuff... you need a good rythmn and a good melody. for example, listen to Red Hot Chili Pepper's song "Aeroplane" great bass soloing there.

Need reccomendations on better inputs for my computer (aka mbox, firebox, etc)

what features are you looking for? how many inputs do you want? do you want expandability, in case you later desire more inputs? do you need midi? do you need xlr inputs/preamps with it (i assume not since i dont think either of the above included this)? etc. The delta 44 or 66 would be...

    Recording keyboards direct

why do you put the keys thru a preamp before going into your soundcard? isn't the output of a keyboard already at line level, and a preamp brings signals to line level, so what is the point? Does it just give it some added character/flavoring of the preamp that you use, so that the keyboard...

    inspire vs. firebox

hehe ok sorry i was wrong =S at least i gave a disclaimer o_O

    inspire vs. firebox

i think midi and spdif are counted as inputs. spdif is used for connecting multiple sound cards together to increase your inputs. i think you can only use either the 2 mic/instrument inputs or the 2 line inputs on the back at a time. You cant use all 4 simultaneously, only 2 at a time i...

    Ready to be bashed.

i listened to it, and nothing really stuck out to me that was bad or needed changing, so i guess that's a good sign. Sorry i cant think of anything to suggest to you, but i liked the song!

ok, i shall now humbly ask for your opinion on the composition itself, oh wise seeker of rock! thanks for you suggestions on the mix, i agree with what you said :) so please, go forth and "wax poetic" on the music itself! (i did even specifically ask for comments on the song and the...

    Organ Sounds

responding to these two posts above me, i dont want a software synth since i want to be able to use these sounds live, and that moog stuff seems way out of my price level; i checked it out and it was like $2000 or more for those moog things u suggested. themaddog: will these organs that i can...

    Organ Sounds

i have a casio px400 and was wondering if it were possible to get better organ sounds i can use while playing it. For instance i want to be able to do things like "A Whiter Shade of Pale". also, how does that organist do the growling sound with his organ? here is a clip so you know what im...

    Odd time

yeah in 6/8 it will often sound like 2/4 bc each measure will often get 2 beats, one for every dotted quarter note (there can be 2 dotted quarter notes in a 6/8 measure). often, you can figure out how many beats are in a measure of a time signature by dividing the top number by 3 and the...

Anyone know anything about these keyboard amps?

I was thinking about getting this: http://www.behringer.com/K1800FX/index.cfm?lang=ENG when it comes out. On this: http://www.behringer.com/02_products/pricelistDetails.cfm?lang=ENG&cid=US page, if you scroll down to the keyboard amp section, you can see the prices of this line of amps...

Casio Piano dilemma, 1/4 or 1/8 in. line out?

on an unrelated note, i also like the electric piano 60s sound on the casio pianos (i have a px400). Just out of curiosity, what other sounds do you like on them? I also like the stereo grand piano sound and the 1st drawbar organ sound a lot.

    Tube mixer, powered or unpowered

getting an unpowered mixer lends itself to greater upgradability since the mixer and the power amp are seperate, so whatever you get, i would recommend getting an unpowered mixer as opposed to a powered mixer.

Digital Piano - Upgrade or Replace?

it sounds pretty good (im assuming you're just talking about the piano sound) for the piano, except i think the octave below middle C sounds kinda "off" to me... i can't really describe it, but i just think it sounds... not right.

Digital Piano - Upgrade or Replace?

i have a casio px400 and the action is not exactly like my baby grand piano, but it's not bad. i would suggest trying them all and seeing which action you like best.

    Extreme piano mods

i think honky tonk piano sounds are created by putting thumbtacks into the ends of the hammers of the piano so that the thumbtacks make contact with the strings. Also, this one guy, i forget who, experiments with putting all sorts of weird objects in the strings of his piano and into its...
