hey Dale
I know it's confusing, because when i re-listen to a track I've just recorded not even I'm sure exactly what's going on - whether it's muffling or lack of gain, or whether one is causing the other. My ears go off comparing it to other professional recordings, and my levels aren't on par...
Oh no this is the Behringer C-1 condenser, the new one I bought. No phone input, just straight into the interface through XLR-XLR on one channel. I recorded a bit of finger picking while singing as well and this is the waveform I got. Sorry I confused the numbers, i boosted it from -3dB as seen...
Hey Dave, I'm at -3dB with the gain knob at 75%. I can boost the waveform to -15 to -20dB and it sounds ok. Maybe I'm onto something now.
But it shouldn't take til 75% to give me this kind of sound, I thought 50-60% would be about the normal level for recording.
Hey sorry I'm still waiting for presonus to get back to me on the PC side of things. But hopefully i'll have it up by Monday. If they can figure it out before that, then my problem will be solved. If not, I'll make a sample as I turn the gain knob up to show how the different levels sound.
PS...
What does FCS mean?
Yes I have a spare, black in colour, the other one is red (the one that came with my scarlett 2i2). Yes presonus has ASIO drivers, AudioBox USB 96 | Downloads | PreSonus
I get fairly weak wave forms, it's advised that we normalize the sound in the DAW to bring the waveform...
Yeah its the main reason i bought yet another mic, but i don't mind having a collection anyway. I have 2 cables and no difference. In my head Im narrowing it down to the PC and the DAW. I've sent presonus support team my system info file so hopefully if it's a PC related problem they'll be able...
I have about 5 different mics, same problem. One is a BM 800, Scarletts Cm25, got a guitar mic and a SM58 dynamic. The guy in the tutorial says he recorded a whole album using an SM57, which isn't even a condenser. I wonder how he managed to boost that signal well enough to do that
I shouldve clarified, there is NO sound with the phantom power turned off. It is definitely XLR to XLR, I have a red cable (that came with my scarlett 2i2 and a black one i use for busking.
Ill try take some photos and maybe a vid later on but there's nothing really special that I'm doing - I...
Funny you mention it, I actually did point it backwards when I first set it up haha. So when turned the right way, the sound still not full enough. But it's not just that the signal sounds too weak, it just doesn't sound right. When playing guitar I can hear my shirt grinding against the guitar...
After years of experimenting and following advice and tutorials I still can't get to the bottom of this mystery. Just recently got a new Behringer C-1 mic through my Presonus audiobox 96 (to replace my scarlett CM-25 mic) the quality is just too soft like it's muffled as well even with phantom...
Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I just recorded a new cover few days ago, it's a Queen Medley, but here I'll focus on Bohemian rhapsody snippet of my video. Here is the finalized product, Compressed with EQ with some delay and reverb.

Here is just the guitar for the Bohemian...
Hey guys, bringing this one back from the dead
I came across this little tutorial for the scarlet interface, and looking at the video she plugs the guitar directly and still gets fairly good sound from it. I also have the exact same mic as shown there that I use to now record guitar and vocal...
Therein lies my question - how do i make this space for spaciness? Is reverb my best bet? And I'm guessing mono would be my only option since Its only one channel, unless i record two separate but same guitar tracks
Thanks Tadpui
How would you guys approach electric guitar + vocals instead of acoustic guitar for a spacious sound? I don't mean heavy music, but just simple easy going songs with a basic tone. I figured since the only way to record is direct, it would be a bit easier because you don't have to...
Thanks Tadpui. I might change strings on mine, It's a pretty decent Ibanez acoustic electric V74ECE-OPN, it has a nice sound but I need to be able to capture it better to have it sit well in my mix and sound natural instead of distorted. How should I set my compression on guitar and vocals? Do I...
Cool, I might try these few techniques as well Stereo Miking Techniques for Recording Acoustic Guitar | Universal Audio
Should I use a pop filter for my condenser mic as I'm recording the guitar? What's the difference in sound if I use one or not?
Hey guys, what if I duplicated my guitar and reserved phase on one of them to make them cancel each other out, then pan them left and right?
I just came across this technique in a different tutorial.
