Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure about this master output stuff. All I want is 2 tracks acoustic and vocals and for it to have studio quality like the music covers do. In terms of live music,I'm not worried about the mistakes because it can be edited, though I want the nice full roomy wide...

(Acoustic guitar + vocalist here) Apologies if it's been asked already. I know we're always told that a mix depends on the song you're playing and the vocals etc but as a busker myself in the past no matter what songs I played live it always sounded good (on the same EQ settings). Why is...

    Vocals, more bass

Interesting. So if your vocals are more baritone (let's take Elvis for example), would you be rolling off the lower frequencies because you already have a lot of bass there or would you be boosting a certain range? In Elvis's case, his producer would've probably boosted the high shelf on his...

    Vocals, more bass

Their method seems to be working based on their deductions. Many of these people seem pretty knowledgeable and respected, but yes I understand you always need to be careful what you believe/read into. I follow Graham Cochrane from Recording revolutions (his own business) - even kind enough to...

    Vocals, more bass

Thanks. Yeah I always add a bit of reverb as I sing, don't like my voice being dry with no effects (but that's just my preference) My idea is just acoustic guitar and vocals with some improv lead solos over the top to make the track sound a bit more fun, very simple nothing fancy and want to...

    Vocals, more bass

Oh ok, I actually thought it was a general rule. I've only tried 2 rooms, the one I recorded the video in (which is pretty empty and explains the ambience). The one I sleep in (more like a study) has more furniture but wooden floor board and not much stuff that would absorb the sound. Thinking...

    Vocals, more bass

99% of the tutorials, it's the first thing they do, they cut off everything below about 100Hz: 3 Simple Moves That Will Improve The Clarity Of Your Mix — Spectrum Sound I might give that a listen.

    Vocals, more bass

Bit of a silly question coming through When recording vocals - I want them to sound a bit thicker. My busking amp (roland street cube) has a bass knob for the vocals making the vocal sound nice and thick. Yet we are advised to cut out all the low frequencies when we EQ in our DAW, but aren't...

How to remove annoying backgorund noise? What causes it?

I have a Behringer C-1 as well and get the same problem, background noise and hissing. Rob, all your mics are super quiet. What kind of interface are they plugged into?

    Mic input too weak

I can go to 0db but only at 95% gain knob. The interface will go full but hissing and distortion will then start to muddy up the track and this is raw no editing. I followed another tutorial using 2 condensers, my scarlett and behringer C1. In front of sound hole right next to each other facing...

    Mic input too weak

What do you mean to stop it peaking on the loudest input levels? Yes ofcorse you would turn it down at the maximum, as it will clip anyway. Unless you mean something else by that I used to use Cubase for my scarlett 2i2, but since I got my audiobox 96 I got familiar with it's Studio one 3...

    Mic input too weak

Interesting. All my condensers give pretty much the same result (ie. the same levels), if in fact the C-1 is a loud mic, then technically I shouldn't have a problem here yet once again the C-1 gives me about the same input as my other mics. Do you think possibly it could be a DAW issue (maybe...

    Mic input too weak

So to get my recordings to sound like the reference cover, which direction do I take now after I've treated the room? Do I continue recording the guitar and vocals the same way? Or should I change to going guitar direct-in via jack? In the reference vid, it sounds like the guys guitar is either...

    Mic input too weak

This distortion is probably what is also causing the muffling of the sound would you say? Or at least what sounds like muffling to my ears. When I said there's a constant battle between guitar and vocals, that was the harshness I was talking about. Panning left and right didn't really solve this...

    Mic input too weak

Interesting. What I'm not liking is that my music covers, which sound really thin with not enough fullness YouTube Don't sound anywhere close to this kind of 'studio' quality YouTube It could be due to the treatment of my room, but there's probably more going on there. Because my ears don't...

    Mic input too weak

What do you mean when you say very live? Yes the C-1 logo and the red light indicating that it's receiving phantom power is indeed facing me. (I did make the mistake when I first plugged it in it was facing away from me, but it is definitely facing me and the guitar in the clip)

    Mic input too weak

Here is my clip, hopefully it works. The video is through my webcam, the sound is competely RAW and unedited through my Studio One 3 DAW, I just synced the video and audio together afterwards. Starts at 50% level, then 75%, then I increase it to maximum. Due to the angle you can't really see...

    Mic input too weak

Good question - No. it sounds much better in my DAW (with my reverb, EQ, compressor plug ins which I monitor directly it sounds relatively clean) however it does get muddier the more tracks I add and the battle between guitar and vocals is still there. When I play it back in my DAW I hear...
