I'm assuming you know how to add effect plug-ins in Cubase already, but just in case this might help:
https://www.native-instruments.com/en/support/knowledge-base/show/370/how-to-insert-native-instruments-plug-ins-in-cubase-7/
That is for Cubase 7, but I don't think it's that different for 5...
I would skip the POD (for now) and go with an interface and Amp sim/modeling software (which is what I do and I record a lot of metal guitar...but as a hobbyist, not professionally), I would check out BIAS Desktop. There is a free trial and it's only $99 to buy. It allows you to customize...
I understand how important it is and if I could I would treat the room, but it's just not an option right now. Not because of the cost, but because of the logistics of where my desk is right now. If I start treating the walls in the basement I will need to be able to afford my own apartment...
Thanks guys. I'm basically taking up a corner of our finished basement which is used as a 2nd family room. My kids go down there with friends, I have game nights there, and when we have parties people hang out down there. My wife hates that I even have a "desk" set up in the corner with all...
I know this is probably going to make some people's blood boil because the topic gets beat to death around here and it's also a topic that is pretty clear what the answer if from prior conversations. I am curious if anyone here records and/or mixes music in a home studio environment that is not...
What Steen says, but I think you're missing a couple of things. What kind of computer do you have? You'll have to change the configuration in your OS to get the input from your interface (not the "built-in input" it usually does) and set the output to where ever you expect to hear your music...
Yep, I've tried resetting both the SMC and the PRAM multiple times. I think it's a hardware issue. Sucks too because I bought this off a friend for the sole purpose of using it as a recording computer and now I can't even do that. Even switching back to my Macbook Pro isn't working now.
I was just going to post something about this, it's lucky I saw this thread first.
I recently upgraded my home studio Mac from a 2005 Macbook Pro to a Mid-2010 Mac Mini. I bought it used off a friend, but 3 of the 4 USB ports don't work. He was using a hub to connect everything and I tried...
I would not feel comfortable giving my material over to someone who I had never met. I can't speak for the prices since I don't know what those services normally cost in a "regular" (not online) studio, I agree with the other replies, find a local studio to work with. Are you just looking to...
Thanks! I will use non-normalized on the patchbay, that makes sense to me. I had the "thru" setting wrong, it's for hooking up CD players (etc.) and not used for the application I am talking about.
So, I heard the feedback on using the patchbay, but I have some other equipment I want to introduce as well (a rack mixer for one) and I also just want to learn how to use the patchbay for my own knowledge (I love playing with and learning how to hook up/use gear). I understand it's not...
So looking at things this evening I realized that my compressor only has one 1/4" input and one XLR input as well as one 1/4" output and one XLR output. Can I achieve the setup I described above by with just one output and one input on the TASCAM?
Ok, let me say I'm a total newb when it comes to using hardware processors of any kind so I might be totally off base with this, but I need help. I recently bought 2 channel hardware compressor and I want to use it to add compression to tracks while mixing (not while recording)...mostly because...
Thanks mjb. I took a look at them and they are nice. I need to build/buy a new desk and find a more permanent place for it before I spend the money on bigger/better monitors, but I will be in the market at some point.
