Can I get some feedback on my mix so far?

Oh man, I hope not. It's a possibility if you recorded them with the gain too high. I mean it happens fairly often, it'd be hard to give you every incident. An example would be ~5:35. It's just a light crackling over the high end because the signal is peaking. I'd just look at your levels and...

New Singer, I need constructive tips and suggestions... besides stop singing hahaha

This actually happens a lot, I forgot about this. Definitely make sure you can hear yourself very well when tracking. I've heard singers I thought were great live produce horribly flat tracks in the studio because I didn't have their voice up high enough. They got into it and didn't notice, but...

    Mixing/Mastering Impressions

Whoops, I should make it clear that it's not me in this recording. It's a very talented guy who I will hopefully be releasing an EP for in the next year or so (fingers crossed). He's just a finance guy who likes to write music, never really played any shows or anything. There is a limiter on...

    Mixing/Mastering Impressions

I might fool with the automation at the end a bit. I brought it down a lot because the vocals are very sensitive to compression and I had to work the mix around that inability to drive them above the instrumentation. It might get that more driving effect if I steepen the slopes a little.

The first one - What do you think?

    Wonderful tribute to John Cage.

Can I get some feedback on my mix so far?

Hearing some crackling from the levels maxing out a bit. I'd widen or pan the cymbals more (depending on how you recorded your drums). Good separation and I like the raw sound of the drums.

    Fix it now (Dutch)

The separation in the recording is wonderful! However, somewhere in the mix there is too much compression/limiting going on. I'm hearing lots of artifacts like shuddering and wee bits of crackling here and there.

Apocalyptic Fairy Tale Music - hoping for some feedback.

Those s's on the vox sound pretty toppy for a pre-master. I'd darken that a little so it's not as sibilant. The mix sounds really good, but I think soundcloud encoded this badly enough that it's hard to tell if some perceived flaws are just from the file compression. Would love to hear a 320...

New Singer, I need constructive tips and suggestions... besides stop singing hahaha

Practice scales with a perfect pitch instrument, like a sine wave synthesizer (nothing with vibrato or distracting aural elements). That way when you get off tune, you'll hear that slow and grating oscillation that comes from the dissonance. Also, practice having good air support. When you take...

Original Song with Percussion Arrangement - how's my mix?

Did you try multi-band compression? Voxengo has a great dynamics processor tailored for drums called "drumformer". I've gotten great results out of it for getting a lot of punch when I need it. You can demo it. It just mutes every 45 seconds.

Way of the World. Would really appreciate feedback.

Something is maxing out, maybe from a limiter. Like the very first hit of the song crackles no matter how low I turn down my volume. I think the verses need more body without burying the vocals. Bring up that rhythm guitar and maybe the drums too. Are you already compressing the vocals at all...

    Need advice with these mixes.

I actually like the first mix better. The second seems muddier. I'm hearing some artifacts but that may be from the file compression, what format did you upload to soundcloud?

    Looking For Feedback on Mixes

I'll post the .flac to soundcloud and see if it's a good representation. No one's posted about the mix yet, so I'm guessing it's taking too long.

Other than fixing the timing, what else could I do to improve this mix?

I'd brighten and pan the snare a little. It seems a tad nasal and distracting in the center. Also could probably sit a little lower in the mix, especially at the end climax. Snare volume does wonders for helping drive a song's rhythm, but I think it gets to be too much. Consider adding a little...

"Saving Grace"(Ugly) Any thoughts on the mix?

Yeah, that's a good way to describe it. The woofer does seem to be working too much for the guitar's range. And it does sounds exactly like when I used to mic the sound hole. EQing should fix it nicely, though. They still salvage real well.

"Saving Grace"(Ugly) Any thoughts on the mix?

Does anyone think the low-mids on the rhythm guitar are too high? Or are my "monitors" (lol) not being entirely accurate? It really only shows up significantly for me on the chord that comes right after "with only a face". Every time with that particular chord or in the same range. P.S., I love...

    Ways to improve singing range...

Scales. Practicing scales with proper shape and support will help your range. It makes you very accustomed to what you're doing because you're not jumping around your range. Visualize the opposite of what you're doing. As you go higher, motion and think incrementally lower. Get the psychological...
