Kind of a technical question. If I have converted a .wav to .mp3 format and then back again what kind of sonic degradation occurs? Similarly, if one "zips" a .wav and then unzips it, what kind of degradation occurs? As a follow up...is there any kind of process (i.e. eq, harmonic exciters)...

Not to belabor the point but in looking at a recent Electronic Musician article the haze of confusion began to gather again. The article states that Wavelab 3.0 actually has serious multi-track capabilities via the "audio montage" window. If this is true, is it still apples/oranges with Vegas...

I am thinking of putting a lecture series on to CD (from tape). Is the amount of audio material that can fit on a CD dependent upon the sampling rate and/or stereo/mono choices or can one only put 74 minutes of audio on a CD? In other words, if I record a .wav in mono and at a low sampling...

When would one use a parametric EQ rather than a graphic EQ or vice verse? What dictates whether EQ comes before compression on a track or -for that matter- a final mix? Thanx.
