I played the acoustic variax. I though it was a great peice of gear, with a lot of neat tricks such as alternate tuning, mic position, and of course guitar modeling, all with the switch of a button. It sounded real good, but it also sounded a bit synth like at times. I wouldn't recommend this...

Speaking of great women bass players, the chikck that plays bass for Prince is pretty great in my opinion. I beleive Ronda Smith is her name, also she is pretty hot.

I was going to say something but I figured it would just encourage his posting. Cliff Williams(AC/DC) is another good one, playing 8th notes for 2 hours each show is harder than people think would think.

AC/DC of course. How many people can rock so hard with so little distortion. I'm sure some of the metal bands on the list would also choose AC/DC.

It's funny how so many people don't understand that. A guy in a music store told me that the Peavy 5150 was the top selling used amp. People bought it to sound like Eddie but they sounded like themselves still so they sold them back to the music store.

Easier said then done my friend. Drummer seem to be a dying breed. It's like for every 100 guitar players there is one drummer (That's what it feels like to me anyway) and when you do find someone that plays more problems occur. Such as no commitment to a band, drugs, they don't like they style...

I have this same problem with my friend that plays drums. He doesn't grasp the concept of dynamics. If you're drummer is anything like my friend then you'll have to replace him because my friend lives in his own world, where he thinks he is playing quieter but his playing the exact same.

I just saw Van Halen in Oakland (Go Raiders) and Van Halen rocked one of the loudest shows I've seen/heard. Eddie looked like he was sick and he did have his back to the crowd for some of the show, I think he was looking at Alex. Kick @ss show though.

I believe a Mr. Eddie Van Halen is on the same floor as Jimi Hendrix, they both reinvented how a guitar was played and what you could do with it. I have a weird feeling not that many people will agree with me on this.

This thread was a dumb idea. Who cares who the best is? Music isn't a penis measuring contest. If something is good, then it's good. You like it or you don't.

I didn't read the overdrive part in the threads name. I like the amp to do that. I had and ibanez (what ever, I forgot the model) Distortion pedal, and a Boss Metal zone pedal, but they both gave out bumle bee sounding distortion.

They're a pretty even match as far as I'm concerned, But I'll give it to Pink Floyd. No reason other than personal taste.
