The effect is pretty small actually - it just tries to absorb the vibrations coming from stand (truck driving by, constuction site nearby - all sorts of low frequency rumble). In conclusion wouldn't hurt having one, you'll never know when the problems going to kick in.

From my experience the AT 4050 is a picky mic (talking about vocals) so if I were considering between 414 and 4050 I would choose 414. I have used C1000s for some years. Some guys like it, some guys hate it. I think it sounds okay for live sound use, but I haven't found use for it in studio...

So did you check out Groove agent? From what I understand it makes just what you are looking for. You can load in your own samples and then save the kit to use it again.

I don't know specifically about LE4, but atleast latest full editions should have plugin called Groove agent one. You can put together a drumkit with different velocity layers (I see you have multiple channels of kick, snare etc.).

Make sure that Lexicon is default Windows sound card.

Are you able to record the midi data itself correctly and it just wont play back all notes? Maybe there's polyphony limit on Halion?

Do you have any effects put on sounds (I mean in Cubase?) Do you have only audio tracks or you are using virtual instruments? Both effects and virtual instruments can be resource hogs.

I don't think that mixer (Alesis multimix 4, right?) allows you to do that. It's just plain simple "what goes in comes out" style :D Dedicated audio interface like Tascam us144 mk2 will allow you to adjust monitoring settings.

Increase buffer size maybe on Saffire mixcontrol? Does Sonar have have performance meter or something similar that could show how heavy load is on computer? Get the latest drivers from Focusrite homepage.
