when i called presonus on this i was told the pres are the same as well as the converters. just more features. since uits only 200$ more i would have to believe it.

if you need 8 great drum mic pres its gonna cost you. best off moving mics around or different techniques or replacement progarms. ive found the fire pods pres are good enough for general use . you have 2 line ins so maybe grab a high end pre to see if thats gonna give you the sound you want on...

4040 sounds clean and bigger and captures a kit better to me better than the pencil mics like an 81. your hi hats will sound meatier with a large d mic.

i like the firepods pre-s. i dont think the dmp3 is a step up as much as sideways.spend your money on better mics or monitors for now.
