A really stupid thing really, but I managed to same thing when I first used adat connectors:
Make sure that there isn't a cap on the adat cable.
Hi and welcome!
I'm sorry to say, but if you are not getting good sound with Steinberg interface you either are doing something wrong (wrong gain staging, mic placement, etc) or the source doesn't sound good from the start (bad sounding instrument, bad room acoustics...).
If you are used to...
Yeah, but it's simple and takes only few minutes to get it working. Just download the dll from lamemp3 site, tell Audacity where the file is located in your computer and you can start making mp3's! :)
Oh, you are using Logic on pc.. As far as I remember it was crap when I tried it years ago. Logic is now for Mac only and much more user friendly...
But yeah, try out Reaper as Mike suggested ;)
Ehmm.. not sure what the problem is. What are these asio issues you're having? Do you find Delta asio panel or DAW hard to use?
If you don't like Delta asio interface then only other option would be Asio4all which may not have all functions.
Always using the same settings? Maybe your gain staging is wrong. Make sure that the OL (overload) led's don't light up. If they do turn down the trim. Check with headphones!
I'd like to know why my car engine is not running smoothly?
Tell us a bit more...:thumbs up: is the output distorted even if you are using only single channel input and channel meter reads far away from 0? Is there maybe heavy compression/eq applied? Does it sound distorted in headphones too?
Try to find a guy who will fix it, probably will be the cheapest option (I see one on ebay for 120$ right now...). Dig around different forums and I'm pretty sure you will find one or tell us your location - maybe someone can lead you in the right place.
If you are anyway going to treat the room, then go for the big one.
For recording vocals you could build some moveable panels to minimize the room sound.
Did the recording sound good, when you were listening back in Cubase? If yes, then the problem is in export settings.
Audio interface will not improve sound quality as long as you are recording just midi. However dedicated interface will probably put out cleaner signal than the built in one...
I am actually using these (and extensions without grounding :P)... Just sometimes you need a temporary solution and fast.
But yea, it's all cool. I hope I don't get killed someday by that. :D
It depends by the plugin, but most fx units should use mainly cpu. However I can imagine plugins that need to load up audio files (convolution reverbs on fx side, samplebanks on instruments side) use ram to store it.
As I told before I don't know about OP house, but here where I live there are tons of places which don't have proper grounding so the buzz (not the "spark noise") becomes a problem.
And as far as isolating ground - there are even extension cords that don't have grounding pins. It could be not...
About the spark noise... this shouldn't be actually a grounding issue (I'm not an expert in electrics :P). Try to get the power from other room and see if that changes anything. The point is that power from another room may be on a different line and not connected with your interfereing device...
I'm not sure that a sample can demonstrate how a pop-filter sounds... I mean how would you test it? Now I belive that nylon and metal popfilters act a bit different (as the mesh sizes are different), but this is a bit ridiculous. :P No offence Darren.
I have both types of popfilters - the metal...
