    What about this condessor mic?

Guys - One thing you weren't considering, is that MXL mics tend to double their price in Europe. I think, European prices (grrrr....) considered, it's a pretty good deal. Try and get hime to throw a phantom power supply, or even a nice little pre-amp with that, but I think that this mic would be...

What should I do about my client?

Wes - Actualy, the keyboard player (the birde's best firend or something. Didn't really care...) wrote it. He played with lot's of great and famous artists (in Israely standards, at least :D ), but it's his first time recording one of his own songs. He was really happy with the result. If I...

    My first band recording

Hi Cyan, I really don't have anything to add that wasn't said before, but I just wanted to tell you I really enjoyed it, and that's npt really the kind of music I usually appreciate. Except for the drums, which really annoyed me (a lot more to do with the playing then the recording), that's one...

What should I do about my client?

The first clients just left half an hour ago. Surprisingly enough, they were pretty damn good. The keyboard player was a total pro. Also sung great. The girl also had a wondefull voice. They had another girl who didn't really sing, just added a whisper track. I'm really pleased with the result...

    Digital Recording - Analog Mixdown

Hi, Does it make any sence to anyone to record to a computer, and then mixdown to a reel-to-teel deck (with actual mixing done on the computer, or using and external mixer), then transfering the mix back to the computer for final editing and burning to a CD? Would the multiple A/D-D/A...

What should I do about my client?

I got one of those tomorrow. A 19/20 year old girl that wants to record a song for her sister's wedding. She's coming with a keyboard player and a bunch of her friends as backup singers. It sounds like a nightmare, but hey, my first paying customer! Oren

Woohoo! Possibly a good acoustic guitar.

Hi kilosius, Peaks - Since you're using tape, it's not really a bad thing if the levels go higher then 0dB. +6 is a bit much though. Make sure only your highest peaks hit the red zone. Generally speaking, it's almost impossible to clip a cassete (you need to hit like +10, +20), but it's better...

What should I do about my client?

Try and work with a hot chick that used to be fat in highschool... Pretty much doubles the attitude.... Not bitter at all :D

    MXL 1006 or V67?

I really like my 1006. I had great success with it on vocals, accoustic guitars, drum overhead and room mic on a live recording. Great mic for the money. (I'm realizing that we're not making this dilema any easier with everyone telling you that both mics are wonderfull, but at least you know...

Woohoo! Possibly a good acoustic guitar.

klosius - Clipping means that the signal was too high for the microphone pre-amp, and caused some distortion. It is always possible to use reverb, but it varies between machines. What kind of a 4-track are you using? (You would also need a reverb unit, of course. For a cassete 4-track, a...

Woohoo! Possibly a good acoustic guitar.

It does. Just write .mp3 instead of .mp It sounds like the voice is clipping. The accoustic sounds a bit cheap, but that's what you can expect from a dynamic. The playing isn't really solid. I think you'd get better results if you'll record each track seperately. Maybe try to stereo record the...

My first song to get radio play

Hi Matt, Sounds pretty damn good on the cans. I don't really listen to this kind of music, but the mix is great. The bass sounds a little distorted, but it may be because I'm using Hi-Fi stream. Vocals sound awsome. I can definitly hear it on the radio. Keep 'em coming! Oren

1 guitar to 2 different amps?

JR - Yes, Briam May did (still does, AFAIK) use 12 (!!!) Ac-30s on stage, but the fact fo the matter is, "only" 3 of them were active and miced. The others were pretty much just to make it look big. He did use weird effects with those 3 amps. One would play a dleayed signal, and the others...

    just playin' with myself

H mixmkr. Great as usual. I didn't really hear anything accoustic about it. The guitar sounds like a Piezzo pickup on an electric. I love the arrangement, and no matter how many times you use it, I still think your sound effects are amazing and tastefully used. Cool tune! Oren

    Same song, new mix

Track Rat - You're opinion is identical to my own, and everybody elses, but unfortunately, I did not have 4 seperate drum tracks. It was mixed on the fly (I don't have a drum set here, and we had to do a location recording, in a disgusting room with nothing but headphones as monitors), so I...

    Rough Mixes of Acoustic Tracks

Tex - I'm listening to By The way, and loving every sec of it. I'll give the others a listen once this one is over. The aguitars sound awsome, but a little bit loud (or the vocals are a little bit soft. i dunno). I'm actually a fan of accoustic songs, and usually prefer them to big productions...

Has this ever happened to you? Do you feel bad after this happens?

Ever pressed "Remove Track" instead of "Remove Part" in N-track? It happened to me several times - every time with the same singer. The lesson learned was to never erase anything. I usually keep every take, or send it to the Recycle Bin, where it could be retrieved. Oren

    Walking On Broken Glass

Thanks Tex, I turned the bass up, to give a little more balls. The drums could use a new recording, but unfortunately, we don't really have the time, and I doubt that this crappy old Mapex kit would ever sound better then that...

    MakeLove & GiveLove

Hi Cooper, I just feel like I'm repeating myself, always telling you how great your tunes are, but they are. I listened to it, and it just doesn't leave my head, which is a good thing (For now. By tomorrow morning I'll get sick of it :D ). It's really catchi and reminded me, from some reason...
