The Duo does that from time to time. Just unplug it, and plug it back in, and it should be fine.
BTW: What kind of drivers/OS are you using with the Duo? I have given up on mine. I just run it's S/PDIF output into an SB-Live...

I can't see I mad this "transition" as the keyboard is still my main instrument, but I did pickup the accoustic after playing the keys for a few years (self taught).
While I'm not a skilled guitarist in any way shape or form, I can play adequate folk-rock accompaniments. Even some fingerstyle...
Do yourself a favour and stay away from the Duo.
I have yet to hear that someone manages to use it the way it was intended to be used.
I just use it as an external A/D converter that plugs into my SB-Live's SPDIF in.
Hi Arcaxis,
No, it's not a Neumann, but it's usable enough. Good for accoustics, room mics, and basically everything.
The cost of the whole thing (with casings and everything) is about 10-12$ per mic (here. I bet it's less in the states).
You can finish a pair in an afternoon. Actually, the...
Hmmpf...
And I thought I was cheap :D
I made a headphone splitter with individual volume controls mounted in a box of Hummus :D
I make my own cables and electret mics.
I built two of my desks.
A piezzo guitar pickup (which I want to burn) from a buzzer...
A small table-top mic stand (for...
For a battery powered, unbalanced mic, use this circuit:

Hey Arcaxis,
I actually built a bunch of them (and actually got to sell a couple) for various usages. One is for the violinist in my band, for live use. It just a capsule mounted on a piece of cable (reinforced with some shrink wrap), which is mounted directly on the violin, with a little...
Actualy, if you solder your own cables, you can get good quality cables for a lot cheaper than that.
The cables I use (the non-Radio Whack ones) were about (currency conversion...) 60 cents a meter.
Cheaper than RS....

Talk about a piece of shit...
I just built a phantom powered ECM, plugged it in using a Radio Shack cable, and viola, major buzz.
Obviously, I thought something was wrong with my assembly, so I started checking the circuit, etc. No problems!
Then, from some reason, I decided to try a different...
Oh, of course not!
A good song is a good song no matter how it was recorded.
If the arrangement is good, the song usually mixes itself.
If you ever listen to songs posted in the MP3 clinic, I bet you listened to songs by Erland. The guy started with a cheap Shure dynamic (606) and got an...
Rob,
Whether or not you can distinguish between mics has nothing to do if you're a professional or not. It's all about the ears...
Some people don't like the 57, but to be honest, I can't see why. Sure, there are better mics out there, but for the price, it can't be beat, and it sounds decent...

Funny you should mention the V63/V57 (Absolutely the same mic. get which ever one is cheaper).
I have one of those (actually called 1006. Yet another name for the same mic), and I think that accoustic guitar is actually where this mic sounds best. Since it's a fairly neutral, "airy"...
Yes. One SD mic would sound decent enough. You can always double track your guitar (play the same part twice) for that stereo effect.
I think that the decision on the SD/LD debate has to do with the type of music you're recording/playing. A LD mic will give you more "meat" (for lack of a better...
