my most recent song-a work in progress

yeah, i think i'm going to float the lyrics on top, singingwise, in a style that resembles that of many great junky musicians :D

my most recent song-a work in progress

the chord layouts are pretty simple-it's tablature in a drop-d-tuning. the lowest line is the lowest-pitched string, though, since the 1st and 3rd strings are d's in drop=d, it would work either way. i'm actually being purposefully vague, because i don't have a specific thing/person to fixate...

my most recent song-a work in progress

i'd be happy to hear any feedback you guys have, especially constructive criticism. i know it's a little heavy on laterary devices in parts, but i'm hoping to play on that. also, i'm aware that the number of syllables per line is much less toward the end, something else i want to play on. in any...

    Why do Singer-songwriters go dry?

my short answer as to why singer-songwriters go dry? they "grow up". their passions go from being focused in a direct creative way to something else. some musicians get married and start raising a family, and simply don't have the same focus they did because of time constraints. this doesn't...

    Vocal Training? Possible?

wow, it never occurred to me that by laying off on the belting, i could actually reach higher with my voice. after just trying it, it looks like i can reach above the high notes in bohemian rhapsody AND heart's magic man, which puts me at pretty damned close to 4 octaves. sweet! i thought i...

Do you feel like a songwriter?

that was a bit of a rambling post, though i can relate. to answer the question in the topic, i'm not quite sure what songwriters are supposed to feel like. i write songs, and i love music.

    A story with pictures

bdbdbucksKID, i too got pulled into being a musician because of my father's interest in it catching me, and i am thankful for it. after almost 7 years on and off (i'm 25 now) of playing various open mics and occasional gigs, i think i'm finally starting to transition the social anxiety into...

    got korg d1200. what's next?

i would think you might want more than one sm-58, and try it without the popscreen, or get some sm-57's and make windscreens for them.

    Software for eliminating noise

waves and cool edit aren't half bad, nor are dart or sonar, and i should mention pristine sound-i liked its setup for noise production, though it's only an ok editor.

    Guitars and weather

most of the info i've read says that in the vicinity of 50% humidity is the best for a solid-wood acoustic. i only have cheap plywood guitars, and they'll be alright almost anywhere, anytime, but they aren't the same. roughly 50% will not steer you wrong. i'll say that give or take 10% will not...

Ampeg 8x10"... What head to drive?

i have a crate vc20, and i think it sounds every bit as good (if not better) than a fender of marshall competitor, but you can't dial in a "classic fender/marshall" tone, which makes them not that popular. still, the damned thing sounds great. i can get some excellent jethro tull-type sounds out...

    Punk/Emo Distortion Sound

i use and love my metalzone, but i swear to you that if you're looking for thickness, you should check out a mesa boogie v-twin. a bigger sound out of a pedal doesn't exist, in my experience.

    pawning an amp

expect to get seriously screwed by a pawn shop. some music shops aren't that bad about the money they give. i was quoted 80% on equipment at a place recently-that's workable, but not ideal. try to sell to an individual, perhaps someone on here?

How can I get Fender to re-paint my Strat?

i'm with the others in suggesting that you do NOT try to get the fender custom shop to repaint. it will be cheaper and easier and just as quality to get ANYONE reputable to do it for you. i used to have a candyapple red strat made at the same time as yours. quite a decent guitar.

I want to buy a Taylor but....

most of the new taylors i've played have felt very responsive, but sounded very thin. i love the design ideas, but i think ol' bob could shift his focus on construction and action to sound on some of the models and make me a happy camper. what i'd really like is a 12-fret dreadnaught cutaway...

    queen's tone!

two things: 1> it's easy to make a coin into a pick. put the coin on a hard, flat surface, and wail on it with a hammer until it is at least pick-sized. shape it as you desire-hell, i used to sharpen mine to razor edges when i used them (i was 15, ok? drawing blood with your gear was ALWAYS...

    What's wrong with Behringer?

i have some behringer stuff-a mixer, a DI box, a couple of those omni SD conensors, and while they seem to function decently, they're pretty noisy. would i take this mixer before i'd try to use my old 4-track for preamps again? hell yes. would i expect my 80 dollar mixer to compete with someone...

    HD - unreliable storage

every hard drive maker has had runs or models that are known to commonly fail-i have experience with very sensitive drives and less sensitive ones. i remember an old quantum maverick (a quality drive) that i moved that starting howling like a banshee after moving it-i guess a bearing got...
