noodling is playing guitar, drums, bass, etc. without actually playing anything. basically it's goofing off on your instrument, and it's typically annoying as hell when you're trying to write music
if the drummer is a 'noodler' you'll wish you had those extra mics:D
this was my first thought, too. it would suck to have a nice mic, and not be able to use it. condensors are very sensitive, and tend to pick up EVERYTHING...especially when you've got drums and guitars and bass and whatever else going.
maybe just me, but I only use dynamic mics during...
good find jimmy :D
if you're just getting this band off the ground, don't worry about a pre-amp or mixer or whatever. the package jimmy is suggesting should cover everything you'd need.
Behringer has a less than stellar reputation, but when you're on a tight budget, it's hard to beat. you'll...
might be interested in the Whammy, and if you come across some fuzz/OD/dist pedals, again might be interested.
why does everyone have cooler toys than me?
I don't have anything to add, constructively, but I will say I'm on my 4th listen in a row. I really dig the vocal harmonies and choir-y vibe, and the guitar solo, and the drums, and...
good stuff.
there's really not much you could do with $1500. personally, I'd probably just find a really nice mic and a really nice amp and call it a day
...or I would invest in a bunch of bus passes and go job hunting, so I could buy more stuff:D
are you recording them together for any particular reason?
also, a full-stack is just overkill in almost every situation. you'll get the best sounds from your amp if your push them harder. it's called the 'point of excursion' I believe. a full-stack pushed to that point will be DEAFENING...
the cheapest ones I've found in the U.S. are right around $100 new. you can get them used for about half that, and typically not worry about them being busted. they're built like tanks.
this won't be helpful at all. I'm just padding my post count
I've never used them, but I've heard that they aren't very good.
"they hype the mids/highs"
"poor bass response"
"blah, blah, blah"
I suspect at least SOME of the bad rap comes from them having the name Behringer on them...
