Take it with a grain of salt. You can mix on ANYTHING, as long as you're familiar with your speakers. Two tin cans and string is better than headphones, as long as the cans are matched.
"Monitors" just make it easier and a lot faster
^^^^^^^^this
...it's what I keep hearing.
P.S. Robby Krieger is a professionally trained guitarist....and the dudes from Reel Big Fish, too. maybe it's just me, but I hear exactly zero similarities, tho they learned the same theory
Flows a lot better to me. Excellent tune!
The Cake reference was more about the monster tone you have going, especially when the guitars start to build, and the unique licks going into the chorus
A little too much echo/reverb for my tastes, mostly on the vocals during the verses, and when the drums are prominent. I'm not in an ideal listening environment, and some one with more experience may have better/different suggestions.
Very well done, otherwise
I immediately thought Cake when the song started, but you got away from that quickly(not that sounding a bit like Cake is bad). And the vocal harmonies are top notch.
I hear what Rick was saying about the chorus getting a little ...off? for lack of a better word. Still awesome, tho
Must be nice. Down here in the sticks, they're $125 new, and impossible to find in pawn shops and such. Even online shopping, it's about the same after S&H
interesting choice. lots of mixed reviews on that amp. I would have gone for something slightly bigger personally, but if that suits you.
keep us(me) posted on that amp. I'm pretty curious about it, too
cross chatter? what's that? I just googled it, and I'm assuming you're not talking about the band on facebook
...or David Cross, which was the #2 hit???
this is the same P.A. I have, and I would definately recommend it! lots of inputs, lots of EQ options, plenty of power(aslong as you're only running vocals thru it). at first, I was a little sketchy, but it was a matter of necessity for an upcoming show where we had to have our own P.A.
if you...
I'm still gonna say go with the P.A. package. just make sure you have stands/XLRs. you could probably find something better, but it will most likely be more expensive or smaller or won't be as inclusive.
typically;
one run of the mill dynamic(practice room) mic+one XLR cable+one mic stand=a...
also, I don't know anything about the mic you're looking at, but I wouldn't discount it just cuz you can't practice with it. you'll almost certainly have multiple uses for it in the studio, and your GF will appreciate it when it's time to record
