    Counterfeit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've had good luck buying guitars in pawn shops around military bases, but i've always played them first.

    Smashing

i've never done more than very lightly scratch or ding a guitar in my life, but if it served me, i wouldn't mind smashing one. it would probably be an uncorrectable piece of shit, though, like a late 80's harmony or something.

My first experience with Guitar Center....

i would sure as shit have walked out with that amp. in fact, if they argued, i would have called the cops and then started grabbing it, because no retail crap job is worth forfeiting something like that. guitar center has a decent selection and potentially great prices, just don't expect anyone...

    Amp Tubes: 6L6 Vs. EL34

i'm aware of the usefulness of searching, but i've never found a single repository for a serious wealth of tube info (that link you sent me is cool, but i have at least 15 or 20 types of tubes not listed there that i'd like to find out more on). thanks for that one, though.

God! Can someone PLEASE help me fix my Epiphone ES-335 Dot guitar?!?!?!

it's not cranking the truss rod that is difficult, it's sorting out all the nifty problems later. if the neck is warped or the frets are worn unevenly (it sounds like one of these is the case for you), unless you have invested a couple of hundred bucks in straightedges, knowing full well WHY...

    Why is metal dead?

    Amp Tubes: 6L6 Vs. EL34

i got a grab bag of pulled tubes for about 10 or 20 bucks. many types in there. i was hoping to at least come up with enough to make my wonky old PA amp work (uses 5 tubes-4 different types!), and i'm pretty sure i can, but i want to know exactly what kind of leeway i have as far as...

I was hanging out with an actress

i mean what i say in my songs, even if it isn't true. if i've penned it, i've lived it, even though there is no "real life" corroboration to it. believing what you're writing is more important than the actual correlation between your work and your life experiences, in my opinion.

Some Lyric Sheets for Your Perusal

i think they're all decent, but "judas" really impressed me. i'm curious about how the words would flow in performance.

    Is "Stereo" just "panning"?

well, i'm not sure that it makes much of a difference anymore, but here's my input. a panned mono image doesn't magically become a stereo image. it becomes a mono image that has been placed into a virtual soundfield with the use of equipment. a stereo image consists of many interdependent...

    Self administered ass kicking!

about 10 years ago, i didn't pick up a 60's sg for 225 bucks sold by some old lady in the classifieds. should have jumped on it. other than that, i've done alright in gear acquisition.

    Amp Tubes: 6L6 Vs. EL34

anyone know a good place to find info on plate voltages/interchangability/etc for many, many tubes? i just picked up 100 of them for about 10 bucks, and think i want to experiment with them in some of my toys..

    Why is metal dead?

silly me. i thought there was a new "metal is dead" argument to make a fool of myself in, and i've already spoken my piece. however, i'd like to add that anyone who still believes that metal is dead should check out lamb of god and darkest hour.

    A Mental Singing Lesson

i suppose i ought to chime in. my take on this is that the goal is to sing as honestly as possible, and that if you do so, you won't have a chance to overdramatize or slack off too badly. that said, it's really easy at times, especially when already having your ego stroked, to push yourself in a...

    argument

i find it difficult to believe that any self-respecting christian artist would give you a hard time for using devotional music in a noncommercial way for a ceremony that is considered a part of the faith.

    Recording Contract Received

unless these guys play switchfinger with tommy motola regularly, a few man operation is not going to be able to make this standard corporate robbery artist contract worthwhile. if this was a label with the resources to record an album and pay for a tour and get some national radioplay, it might...

    Where to sell more CDs?

volume at local stores may not be that great, but it's great to have something available at a brick-and-mortar store, and the more independant places are quite good about handling that amicably. you might want to try networking with musicians around the country and arranging a unit-for unit...

Recording acoustic guitar? - try new strings!

i'm told that the newer (nanoweb, right) coating on elixirs is much better sounding. i thought the old ones sounded like crap. brand new strings can be hard to control in a mix, and go out of tune easily unless broken in properly. some people like dead strings for recording. some hate them...
