I had issues with ASIO guard myself. Also my usb cord at one time made a big difference. I had 2 cords I really believed were exactly the same but one had real problems and the other has been perfect.

I have the 008 and love it. I personally think the internal mics are good. But use it to record remotely then dump my files into my daw. I cant imagine mix/mastering with it. But I'm sure the effort is a good learning process.

Something else I do is I dip sharply the freq at somewhere around 300-350. This separates the mids and bass freqs so they have heir own space.

Like others are getting at, find the frequency that is so prevalent in the subs but not in the other sources. Remember subs pick up below typical speakers. So you can cut out fqs from subs and never notice on reg monitors.

For acoustic to mic recording I prefer a soft room to iso the guitar as much as possible. A wood floor ok but real wood. You can put a mat under the chair and the room is big enough for a nice rug. And really you can treat those walls without spending a lot of money on pro acoustic panels...
