cables Got the midi cables now ..thanks guys!

I am trying a demo of cubase sx. When I record a guitar track I only hear it playback on the right speaker. Why is this? ......But when I record with my condenser it playsback through both. Why the difference?

IS there quality issues in midi cables? or can I jsut grab any midi cables at the music shop?

midi cable Alchuck: exactly. It worked great on my old joystick port but I'm using a delta 1010 and don't have the joystick port. so should it have the 4 midi connectors in total? (two on each end?) or are they seperate cables with 1 one connector on each end?

I have a midi cable that has an "in" and an "out" split on one end and a male joystick port on on the other end . (i'm not sure if they are all like this.) I can't really use this cable on my delta and on my keyboard can I? Are there other types of midi cables?

I've been trying the ntrack demo but im not too happy with it (crashing and asio driver stuff)...also those darn meters always go full screen on me! Does it even do MIDI? What I am looking for is recommendations for something that will allow me to record mic tracks like ntrack and also draw...

Well ...I'm hung on the protools for now cuz it's "free" and the one you "gave" me is $29.99. I really appreciate the suggestion and I will check those out when I get a chance. Any cash I can save right away would be great as I just blew over $5000 on gear with my monitors, mics, new PC...

I was looking into getting the M-audio Octane, 8 channel preamp on www.silicondirect.com. It looks like it would go great with the Delta 1010 and I can get it at a great price. Does anyone know what kind of preamps the Octane has in it?

protools LE Can you use protools LE without the hardware?

I was gonna tryout the "Protools free" program because ....well,... it's free but I've heard that it's not that great for audio. Can anyone elaborate? I was gonna use it with a Delta 1010 soundcard that I saw on www.silicondirect.com and maybe pick up the Octane Preamp too with an Apex 460...

Are presonus pretty bad? I was looking at an 8 channel one for around $350.00 Where would I find a recording done with some crappy preamps so I would hear how crappy it really is? Any sites with recordings of any specific gear would be appreciated! Thanks......

But the preamps on a mixer usually bite the big one, in comparison to a seperate preamp don't they? All the preamps I see only have about 2 channels. Any suggestions?

Do i need to have a preamp for every mic that is being recorded live? (i.e 3 mics on drums, 2 on vocals and 1 for guitar) Would I need 6 preamps for this setup?, what type of gear is necessary ? I am trying to go mixerless and am planning on getting a Delta 1010 soundcard for my PC...
