Just because you don't buy pro-equipment does not mean that you buy crap.
I didn't mean to start a debate or anything, but isn't that what I just said.........."but not necessarily, cheap".........
cheers
hottsauce,
mic pre is used to bring the microphone signal level to the level that is suitable for recording. The processor you're talking about.....I'm not very familiar with it, but I think it is mainly used for vocal pitch correction and probably some other vocal effects....
cheers
....what tells you this person is a newbie at recording? His number of posts on this BBS?
A good piece of gear is never a waste of money...whereas a bad (and probably, but not necessarily, cheap) piece of gear IS.
if you can afford the floating floor (on the rubber pucs) you should do it. It would be more of a good thing than a waste of money and effort...so yeah it does help, even when costructed on a concrete slab.
I ain't an expert, but I think the 3:1 rule means:
If you're micing one source with two mics let's say, if one mic is set up @ 5 inches from the source, the other mic (which would be placed further out from the source) would have to be @ at least 15 inches from the first mic, to avoid phasing...
I had an SM PR8, and used it only once or twice, and then sold it to a friend. I didn't like it too much, but he seems to be happy with it, so that could be an option for you...
just a thought..
how about a big slat resonator where you wanted the stones and a couple of bass traps on sides of it or if you can in the corners.....a smaller slat resonator above your slider...and the rest fibreglass covered with cloth.... I guess that would make it balanced and not too dead...
depends on how soft/hard you're singing a song, what sort of song it is...you know....put the pop filter two inches from your mic and see how you go...different pop-filters provide different guarding from "air blasts" into the mic...just listen and try to work out what sounds OK i guess....
just listened to the session1...Can't believe how crappy the SP B1 and B3 sounded....all the mics went thru the Hardy preamp, but when it was SP's turn, it sounded like the whole set-up changed...I still don't believe those mics sound that bad. Not acusing the people that tested them of...
Hi Henry,
Listened to "clear"...it's good..I just felt it could be more stereoish sort of thing, sounds too mono to me....everything's in the middle....otherwise, good work
that's a good song and a pretty good mix....the only thing I noticed that the kick was maybe a bit "muddier" than I'd have it. Yes, you could afford to mix it a bit fatter, coz your bass sound is not that "low" in this song, but i'd still give the kick a bit more "klick".....overall, I liked...
the mix seemed to be OK...the guitars didn't bother me and didn't sound harsh, which is good ..i guess..:)
One thing I didn't like too much is probably the snare sound, but again...it's a good job....keep at it:cool:
I actually logged on tonight to see if you've posted any new stuff Erland..I was wrapped to see your name under the "topic starter" column!!..What can I say, as every other one of yours...great....
What FX do you use on vocals if you don't mind me asking..
Thanks.....living legend
Good luck...
you don't need to go to MP3 in order to burn your music..CD burner burns .wav files not mp3 files...that's assuming you want the music on your CD, not mp3 data....
