VF16 finally seen and heard. IMPRESSIVE!

i am STETCHING my "photographic memory" and "hands-on recall" (concerning the VF16) to the MAXIMUM limits of my smallish brain. i don't OWN one of these units yet,..but am thoroughly impressed by the "bang for the buck" features of it. if i MIS-STATE myself i would hope that current VF16 owners...

VF16 finally seen and heard. IMPRESSIVE!

there is a "screen" (accessible by a SINGLE button push....wait,...not sure if "shift" key is involved here..but ANYWAY) that instantly shows the AUX/EFFECTS routing of each specified channel. this screen shows the amount of THAT tracks' signal that goes to AUX1, AUX2, EFFECT1 and EFFECT2 (the...

VF16 finally seen and heard. IMPRESSIVE!

in case you are wondering what a "Public Lyching" is,...well it is simply a MISSPELLED "PUBLIC LYNCHING". please keep the torment and rock-throwing to a minimum. cheers.

VF16 finally seen and heard. IMPRESSIVE!

the AUX send(s) on the VF16 is/are available via a SINGLE "TRS" phono jack (a "stereo" jack). you will need a handy-dandy "stereo Y-cable" to access the TWO sends on this jack ("tip" for one send and "ring" for the other. i can't remember which is which but there was a small diagram on the back...

    Midiverb4 backlit display

i have an ALESIS S4+ synth module that has an anemic backlit display as well. i can still read it (for now). it's a shame because i LOVE the unit. the display sometimes sorta looks like an "Etch-A-Sketch" with a flashlight behind it. kinda weird but kinda cool. if it "blacks out" COMPLETELY i'll...

VF16 finally seen and heard. IMPRESSIVE!

i just wish to define/clarify the VF16 declarations that i made above. please keep in mind that my opinions are based on my FIRST and ONLY 30 minutes with the machine. i am certain that there WILL be some necessary manual reading involved and that there ARE some learning curves that might...

VF16 finally seen and heard. IMPRESSIVE!

my local "megastore" finally got the Fostex VF16 in stock. in fact, there was a small stack of VF16 boxes on their sales floor but none were on display yet. with permission i opened the first one and plugged it in. it seemed a VERY solid unit with its sturdy metal chassis and the faders are MUCH...

    VF16 panning/scene inquiry

just wondering if you VF16 users could verify a couple of things. firstly (and based on the photos i've seen), i DO NOT notice any "dedicated" pan knobs on the VF16. is panning done on the "data" wheel? is it still possible to do some "random/radical" pan moves when bouncing or sub-mixing tracks...

Nano gear what is your opinion.

i own a Behringer Composer and a Behringer Ultrafex. i also own an Alesis Nanoverb and an Alesis Nanocompressor. i like the Ultrafex. with careful application you can give a sound or mix some extra chrispness, punch and shimmer. i DISLIKE the Composer. it "colors" the sound of whatever i run...

can the VF16 mixer be "automated" in any way (i.e. scenes or midi-controlled movements)?? cheers.

    bypass FOSTEX FD-8 MIXER SECTION

Fostex makes a cool little gadget called the VC8. it is a digital/ADAT/analog converter. you could run an ADAT digital cable from the FD-8 INTO the VC8. the VC8 would spit out 8 SEPERATE analog channels which you could patch into your Mackie. pretty cool. the VC8 is about $250, however. if you...

    FD-8....SCSI or IDE (noise inquiry)??

just wondering if the IDE drives on the FD-8 "clatter" a bit. i'll be doing vocals and miking acoustic guitar only 2-3 feet away. perhaps i'd better mount a cabled SCSI drive beneath my keyboard stand. any IDE drive users care to report on the "noise factor" of the internal drive? should i opt...
