Oh yeah?
Well what's the difference between a drummer and a saving's bond?
One will eventually mature and make money! :D
(If you've heard that one before then sorry... I heard it for the first time the other day and thought it was pretty clever)
The 2nd mix sounds really great. You can hear every instrument clearly but they still blend!
My only gripe is that the hand claps almost sound like clipping. Other than that, it sounds great!
So is the guitarist going to mime his part?
Playing to MIDI is one thing... but playing a prerecorded guitar part and using a guitarist as a prop is something else.
Eh... I think not having the guitarist present at the gig is the lesser of two evils. Either way, tread carefully, as I'm not...
Man... using real drums really brings the song to life! I like it! Great playing as usual too, Greg.
As for everything else, well it's been said before, I agree with all of it.
I've listened to a few of your tunes since joining and I must say I wasn't keen on your guitar tone at first...
Very nice tune man,
I like what you did with the background vocals... he's definitely a good singer.
If I had to say something for the sake of saying something, I'd say that I'd like to hear the drums come up a wee bit. Or maybe it's because the vocals are so upfront...
Either way, great...
It sounds a little disjointed. The sections (from1:40 on and then 2:02 in particular) sound cool on their own but I think they each need to be expanded into their own song to be fully explored.
I feel that the guitar doesn't really blend with the drums, try sticking a bit of reverb on the guitar.
Maybe you can put some sort of stereo widening effect on the guitar as well... due to the sparseness of the mix I find it sits strangely in the stereo field.
I think the piano sounds too far back in the mix, I would bring down the reverb a bit.
You can also bring the guitar up and give it a high frequency boost for some brightness and some compression for some twang. You can barely hear it...
I agree with Manslick about the snare and the kick drum.
I agree with what everything else that has been said.
I think the guitar solo could be better, it seems to be lacking in something... the bends could be tighter.
That was a really rough number; it definitely varies per person. But someone who doesn't do any audio editing or whatnot can't hear as fast as those who are.
Your editing is only as accurate as your sampling rate.
A sampling rate of 192 kHz means that there are 192 samples per millisecond... is 192th of a millisecond accurate enough for you?
Or if you really want to get scientific, I believe the ear can't really hear faster then about 50...
Maybe my last statement wasn't well thought out;
I suppose we all start writing songs, but when we realize that they're terrible we stop writing them, and.
I don't think I've ever gone "Oh jeez, this song sucks. I must finish it!"
But... what if we have the songwriting chops to write...
Very sweet queepy!
Although I must say, listening to it the first time without vocals, I actually prefer the one with no vocals.
But that's just me, don't take my word for it :D
I don't see how overdubbing takes away the "feeling" of music. If it's music that's largely precomposed, or interaction between the musicians is at a minimum (like a lot of pop music) than I don't think it really matters.
But if done well, and given the chops of the musicians, you can...
