I have been thinking for a while now of going to a studio to record some songs. I'd like the experience, and I'm sure I'd pick up a lot about recording techniques, etc. So, I was researching places within a day's drive and found one website of a studio that specializes in taking someone's...
I "built" one of those Saga Strat copies. It was easier than building a $4.99 model airplane. The most time-consuming thing was painting it. The neck is pretty warped and the pups stink. I can't stand to play it, but that's what I expected. I did it on a whim and I learned some things...
This thread is several months old -- I wonder if mindwave is still reading. Oh, well, maybe someone else is. When my friends and I first started a band, we wanted to play out quickly. We learned about 6 songs, then opened up for another, well-established band who we knew. That was very cool...
This is cool.
This is what I use -- it's very basic, but it works for my simple process. I'm thinking of laminating a copy so I can use a dry erase marker. Then, when the tracks are 'finished' I can type or write them in.

Thanks. So, for someone like me who doesn't use MIDI, it will work well then! Have you by any chance used Sonar Home Studio? If so, how do the two compare?
Finally, Guitar Tracks says it comes with backing rhythms -- are these drum samples or entire songs that you can't manipulate...
Just wondering. I like that it seems very easy to use. It costs more than Sonar Home Studio, though. I write and record straight-forward rock/pop/blues stuff.
Do you like it? Why? What limitations have you found?
Thanks

Hey, all -- good thread here. I'm considering the VS2000, but see that Roland has a free monitor rebate for the 2400 through June, so...
1. Has anyone gotten this free monitor? Is it any good?
2. How is the quality of the onboard drum machine? Does anyone have a sound clip of this at...
Ha -- I hear you. :D My wife can't complain because she's getting an area for her gardening and pottery. It worked out that my space will be nicely separated from the other areas, so intrusion and kids messing around with knobs should be kept to a minimum. Would it be too adolescent of me...
Right now, I use Roland MA-8 monitors -- they're about $90. They're small but suitable...definitely an improvement over PC speakers. Check out this thread for proper placement. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips, esp. the one about avoiding squares -- good to know! I may be able to get a few more feet one way or the other to avoid this. I really like your idea of having the vocal room as the entrance. Clever use of space. Thanks again.
We are going to build a detached garage this summer. The downstairs will be a 2-car area and workbench area. On the end, my wife will have a pottery and gardening studio. Upstairs, a 'hang-out room' with TV, sitting area, sleeper sofa, and maybe a small kitchenette will take up about half the...
Here's what I'm trying to do:
Using Drums on Demand and nTrack, I've created a WAV file of about 40kb. I then burned that onto a CD.
Following the directions for the VF80, I then try to load the file to the machine. I want to do this because I plan to then record the other tracks onto the...
I am having problems loading a wav file from a CD to the VF80 hard drive. It is saved in the format outlined in the manual, and I have tried it from 3 different CDs. Each time, the VF80 ejects the CD then I get a message that says 'No Disc Loaded.'
I have done this before w/no problems...
Eureka!
I contacted Joe Naylor at Reverend guitars, and he got back to me (withing 24 hours!). He said that the Rocco neck has a two-way truss rod, which can adjust in both directions. "If you keep turning it counter-clockwise it will start to add relief (forward bow) to the neck."

A friend mentioned the nut groove theory as well, but it doesn't seem that would make for buzzing on only certain frets.
The b.s. theory sounds more likely :(
I have emailed the manufacturer (apparently they are quick to respond), so I'll see what they say. Also, there's a new tech in...
Just answered my own question...
Using Goldwave, you can record a track from nTrack as a single wav file. Another cool thing about Goldwave is that you can alter the speed of recording. So, if you have a drum track from DoD that is 100 bpm, but you want it faster, you can record it using...
I recently took my Reverand Rocco to a guitar shop b/c the strings were buzzing near the 1-4 frets. The tech. said there wasn't much he could do with it after he loosened the neck as much as possible. There is less buzzing, but it's still there on some frets and some strings.
