    Guitar players learning drums

I have been doing some recording mainly using drum loops because of the lack of a live drummer. I've been finding that they're just not cutting it. What I'm wondering is how many of you guys have learned drums after being long time guitar players? Also relatively how easy was it? I know I won't...

    Drum Loops / Software

Try checking out www.smartloops.com, they have a pretty wide variety of stuff and it sounds really good (at least to me).

    Crossfades

I'm recording at home and usually I won't have a whole song idea all together at once so I'll record maybe 4 or 8 bars at a time. The problem is when I piece them together I get a small click. I've done some research and crossfades seem to be what I need to use. I've tried every type of waveform...

"Invalid access to memory location. (998)"

I get this error after i've inserted a drum loop, taken it out for whatever reason and try to put it back in. No clue why its doing this. I use PT LE and this hasn't ever happened before. Any ideas?

    XLR to line conversion

This is mainly just for my own curiosity, but is there any sort of sound quality lost during a XLR to line conversion?

    Acid Loops

Very small changes, around 10 BPM or more. I'm not using Sony's Acid though, i'm just using acid format loops for drum tracks.

    Acid Loops

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some help regarding acid loops. Whenever I try to use them at a different tempo than what they are recorded at they get distorted. Any idea on how to fix this?

    getting an s/pdif input

so just to clarify (sorry i'm kind of slow with audio signals and things like that), the signal coming out of the spdif is the same as if i took the mono output of the tonelab (the one that would go to an amp). and if thats true what would be the benifit of spdif?

    getting an s/pdif input

well i'd be running the spdif output of the tonelab. i mainly wanted to know this because i've read that recording from a spdif signal is better than recording from the line output. if there really isnt much of a difference i don't see myself going through to trouble to accomodate the spdif

    getting an s/pdif input

the interface i'm using right now doesn't have a s/pdif input. if i wanted to be able to use that type of input is there any small converters or mixers that i could get to plug into my interface instead of getting a whole new one?

    Effects for recording

yeah i was going to get a toneport, but the guy at the store convinced me to get a mbox. also, one last thing, unfortunately the mbox does not have a s/pdif input. anyone have any experience how the tonelab would sound directly into the interface through a line input?

    Effects for recording

sorry, i probably should've specified myself. i don't need much versatility in terms of the number of amps/effects, just good quality ones. amp modeling is something i want because i would prefer to record direct or use the unit with headphones for quite, late night stuff. but that unit is...

    Effects for recording

    Effects for recording

chili...thanks for the input. i actually had a 150 and was doing the same thing as you but i just thought it didn't sound very good at all, too digital. castlerock, the tonelab is on top right now unless something about the gt-8 can completly change my mind. guitarer: thanks for the idea, i'll...
