I've said this before, I'll say it again.
As much as I hate to admit it the Casio Privias have the best keyboard action of any digital I've ever played.
Yup, I know, it's a Casio.
It's also lighter than anything that even comes close to feeling as realisitc.

Beginner or Pro, it matters what your applications are.
I use my boards for performance more than recording, so I don't use the transport controls too often. However:
Pitch/Mod wheels or equivilant are a MUST have.
Aftertouch is nice if you can get it.
Patches should be accessible from the...
If piano action or "feel" is your only concern, I wouldn't turn your back on the Casio Privia series of keyboards so fast.
Yes, I know Casio.
However, those of us that frequent Keyboard magazine's Keyboard Corner forum have unanimously proclaimed that the Privia series of Keyboards is the...
Something you need to consider about the CME controllers is that they are "brainless".
When you power them off, they lose all of their settings. For me, it would get tiring having to reprogram my patch assignments everytime I turned it on.

So you are saying that I CAN keep my channels on my controllers and modules set to one after all. I only have to set up my USB patches for 1 on the in and my modules on the out.
Is that right? If so I'm very happy about that.
Having to change my volitile channel information on my MIDI...
Actually, I think I figured it out but I'm disapointed if this is what I had to do.
I had to change all of my MIDI channels on my devices to unique numbers (yuck, never had to do that with my MotU XT) and be sure to not select "Controller" in my device list for in or out.
That worked just fine...
Hello, I've got an Edirol UM-880 connected to my PC via the USB connection.
When I try to sequence multiple MIDI sources simultaneously in realtime the events record just fine, but playback goes out to all instruments.
That is to say that all MIDI events are sent to ALL the synths and modules...
I'll be honest I'm still trying to find the sweet spots on it. It seems to me that there are two extremes with this unit.
One is a far too subtle ambient reverb effect while the other is exactly what I didn't want. A metalic sounding unnatural reverb effect. Granted I may still be using it...
In a previous thread I promised to post pictures of my current rack system.
Here they are:
This is the system on the whole. It is entirely self contained.
In this shot I will point out the components that make up the face of my rack.
Starting from top to bottom.
Blank Panel...
I plan to save for the Lex.
Hopefully the transaction will go smoothly, I'm a bit wary of getting something like this on eBay.
The Lex definately towers over the Alesis in quality?
Carl
Actually, I just recently replaced the XT with a UM-880.
I use upwards of four MIDI keyboards at a time. As many as eight sometimes.
I do use this rack for recording, but not the reverb. I plan on using plug ins for that.
The Roland and QSR are the modules in that systme. I also have a short...
If I can raise the extra cash before this auction ends (five days) I'll get that, thanks.
This post shows with photographs why my rack is so shallow:

Carl
Well, the depth of the Nanoverb is beyond my limitations. Even the new Picoverb is too deep.
Also, they way I have my rack set up, my aux sends have to go to an internal unit so desktop reverb or outboard reverb is not an option.
If I did buy a Nano or Pico verb, I would have to get a shelf...
