    This is what MASTERING does????

i think he means he's going to try to make his voice sound like the elf singing into the amp he was talking about. :p

    Virtual analog synths? <$400?

I've been looking a lot into various virtual (or at least partly digital) analog synths since I made my last post. I'm trying to keep the price under $400 if possible. Things I need: -Decent MIDI implementation -Some good ambient sounds, along with a decent lead synth sound -Fairly easy to...

    Best synth under 600?

Hate to bump a thread that hasn't had a post for 11 days, but did you decide what to get oh_the_blood? I'm looking a lot into various virtual analog synths, and was wondering if you've bought anything yet.

    This is what MASTERING does????

I really like it. The only things I noticed were that the vocals do seem compressed pretty heavily, and the aforementioned "elf singing through the guitar amp". Sounds better than most shit I hear on the radio, to be honest. I mean, I hate the radio, so that's not saying much, but still, I like...

    home studio 2 question???

A difficult question to answer. You can make professional-sounding recordings if you have professional-sounding equipment. The software won't make much of a difference as to the quality of the recordings. I don't see why burning CDs would be difficult. As far as I can tell, all you'd have to do...

    Cloneboy vs. Noisedude Joke-Mix Contest

I figured, but it didn't have the in-your-face so-bad-it's-funny thing going as well as noisedude's though :D

    Cloneboy vs. Noisedude Joke-Mix Contest

That song was some funny shit, noise. =P and i don't really get bentbunny's as much.

    Whiskey In Bed

Even urbandictionary.com doesn't have synthic. Oh, and not that I'm one to judge, but I didn't think the song was terrible. And like everyone else, I have to wonder why the hell you posted this in a clearly labeled "mixing clinic" when the mix sucked. Just my $0.01.

Is it too much for me?

Well, I just came back from GC after relentlessly trying out every keyboard I could find. I found that I enjoyed two types of keyboards; the ones with a full set of 88 hammer-action weighted keys (the Triton LE, in particular), and the small synths (basically just the Micron). I enjoyed playing...

Is it too much for me?

The people at the GC I go to tend to swarm on me like flies half the time. They seem fairly knowledgeable, but I definitely do 99% of my research online when looking into this stuff. Before I had found this board, it was a little harder to do that. And tedluk, I'm often the same way with trying...

Is it too much for me?

Thanks for the advice. Though I don't recall saying the RS-50 seemed limited (my comment was referring to the MicroKORG and the Alesis Micron), I hear what you mean. I've listened to Nightwish before, they're damned good. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I guess I just have to think about it...

    MXL 990/991 Mic Package

Yeah, I've pretty much had exactly the same problem. Though I've attributed it to my newbishness as much as the mic itself. I'll try comparing it with a few other mics when I get the chance, but it's the only one I have at the moment.

Is it too much for me?

I'm not sure, to be completely honest. To an extent, it's definitely sonic therapy. A way of getting emotions out, or expressing other emotions. I'd love to be in a major band on-stage someday, but it's not my focus right now. I like making music and then letting other people listen to it. If...

Is it too much for me?

I think I probably would die if someone blasted GC with full-on treble. Or even without it. It's painful no matter what you do. so much for keeping things on topic. =D

Is it too much for me?

You just made me cry. I hate you. I'm now going to kill myself by bashing my head through my RS-50 while listening to Good Charlotte full blast through my monitors, treble boosted through the ceiling. goodbye. :( i hope you know i'm joking. lol.

Is it too much for me?

First off, thank you to both of you. Your responses was just the type I was hoping for. Constructive. lol I realize it's sort of a personal question, and no one can tell me exactly what to do. But like you said, the RS-50 doesn't inspire me. It doesn't have it's own personality. I've basically...

    MXL 990/991 Mic Package

I have one as well, and I think I've noticed what you're all saying. What exactly do you mean by "boxy" though? I'm sorry if I seem ignorant, I just don't know if I know exactly what you mean. Likewise, I'd rather have a mic I don't have to EQ-fight, but it's all I have at the moment, so I deal.

Is it too much for me?

I bought into this whole recording thing a while back, though to be honest, I just started actively creating music a month or so ago. I have a Roland RS-50 connected with an Omni I/O, and all the necessary equipment for now. But I've started writing things, and I've realized something. The...

Covers: To gig or not to gig!

I wish I could hear a country version of Master of Puppets. No chance of a recording of that? :p

    Greatest Singer of All Time?

Maynard James Keenan is something. As far as that sort of thing goes, James Hetfield deserves some credit for what he was in the late 80s to the late 90s. In the late 80s he reached near perfection for a rock/metal singer, and after blowing out his voice a few years later, he managed to readjust...
