    Mic Attenuator

I know this is a little douchy on my behalf, but I'm having trouble finding an attenuator tutorial that I can understand. I was hoping someone might be able to give me direct instructions on building the attenuator I need to lower the signal from a 7 inch Sub speaker that I'd like to turn into a...

    Bookshelf Absorption Panels

Someone on craigslist is giving away two of these bookshelves and I was thinking of picking them up and turning them into abortion panels to either hang on the wall or to use as gobos depending on how heavy they are. Could I get away with stuffing them with R-19? What do you guys think, good...

First Pics of Studio / Room Treatment Question...

Holy crap man. I don't know anything about sound treatment, as I just posted a similar thread, but your gear is NICE! Love the Rhodes and organ and that drumset looks the tops! Oh yeah, and the girls aren't bad either!

    Best Overhead Mics

I record with LDCs (NT1a's) as overheads, but not by choice, only because my SDCS (Samson C02) aren't really worth using from my experience. They're way too shimmery and don't sound very good. However, the last time I used them was a year or two ago, and I've learned bucket loads on how to...

Creating an audio 'scrub' type of effect??

It can, but there's two sliders, one for cents and one for semi-tones. So I'd have to automate the cents down to -50, and then at the same exact time, automate cents back up to +50 and then decrease the semi-tone by 1. This is an absurd thing to do, and I'm not even sure it would flow properly.

Feedback Noise in my Electric Lines

I finally figured it out (on accident of course!) I went to go pick up my phone which was plugged into the wall, and sure enough, when I touched it, the noise came along! And when I turned the screen on, it got even louder! Now I never have my phone plugged in to the wall at my desk, but I do...

    Sound Panel Help

I'm a bit confused, I'm not sure I can save up that much for 703, especially considering how many panels I was thinking of making. But is this not R-19 even though the package says so? It also says it's 6-1/4" thick, so I'm not sure what the deal is: http://www.homedepot.com/ Will R-19 do any...

    Sound Panel Help

I'm about to get ready to build a buttload of sound panels and clouds, mostly to help shape the sound of my room for recording, and maybe a few for mixing, but I'll get into bass traps later. I just wanted to make sure that using 6 1/2 inch R-19 would be sufficient to get the job done. I have a...

    Sound Baffle / Acoustic Panel

Just curious, did you cover the backside, and if so, how?

    Micing a Cymbal Swell

Just record it in mono with the MXL and then throw a Stereo Sample Delay on there with the right channel like 200 samples behind and the left at 0, it will thicken the hell out of it, trust me. I highly recommend using the MXL over the 57 if you want any detail in it.

Creating an audio 'scrub' type of effect??

Does anyone have a suggestion for this in Logic Pro? Unfortunately the Pitch Adjustment plugin changes the semitones in steps, so it's not a very smooth sounding change, nor does it slow things down. I couldn't find anything in the sample editor (nor would I expect it to have anything because...

What is the best drum machine??

Bump much? But seriously. This thread is VINTAGE!!! Check out all the awkward stares at "fruity loops" when it was new on the scene (and still called fruityloops!) I thought I was in some sort of weird time warp when no one recommended he get a trigger finger and EZ-Drummer right out the bat...

    Cheap Insulation

Awesome man, thanks so much!!! The pictures were also a great help, I really appreciate you taking the time to make those for me. I was gonna just do a center "beam" and put the window on the left side (from where the drums are) but maybe I'll put it in the center like your picture shows. I...

Feedback Noise in my Electric Lines

I should've figured WMP would have a problem opening an industry standard audio file. I converted it to a wave for those of you on windows: http://benrosenbach.com/choons/noise.wav. You should hear it about halfway through. Thanks for the feedback (GET IT?!?!?!)

    Cheap Insulation

Sorry about that Rick, I just read back over my post and I realized how confusing it was! I should've put up a picture, so I'll do that now. Here's the layout of my basement now, the big black objects are appliances I can't move, except for the bar in the top right corner, which is just a...

    Cheap Insulation

Hey guys. I'm finally giving in and rearranging my studio, getting out of the corner and moving to the other side of the basement. I'm only renting the place now and will possibly be moving within a year, but I really want to build a wall to get some sort of isolated section of my basement...

Feedback Noise in my Electric Lines

Really, does no one really not know what my problem is or is no one willing to go listen to the sample? I know it's aif, but it's only a 1.9 meg file and 15 seconds long, and I didn't wanna loose the noise when converting it to mp3. Hopefully someone can help me :(

What should my next step be?

I'd agree with getting monitors if you don't have any, or possibly looking at a better interface than the multimix.

Feedback Noise in my Electric Lines

Every now and then when I'm playing my guitar, I hear a noise that sounds like sine wave (like an electronic tuner in pitch pipe mode). I thought it was my guitar, but then my other guitars and even my bass started doing it. On top of this, it started happening on both my recording gear and my...
