Are you trying to record the audio output? If so, make sure you are routing the output of your instrument track to an audio track via a bus. If you are just hitting record on an instrument track, and then just clicking buttons in Pro Tools, it's no wonder it's no recording...

Instead of recording to a stereo track, create a mono track and record to that.
