    Alesis microverb 4

I used to have the Microverb 4, then I upgraded to the Lexicon MX300. It's more expensive and less beginner-friendly (although sounds great!), but it has the option to treat the left and right inputs as separate mono inputs and apply separate effects to them.

    good recording headphones

I have a pair of both the Audio Technica ATH-M50 and the newer ATH-M50x. They're both incredible. Very comfortable for long-term listening, and great for mixing.

    Audio Interface Comparison Chart

Very nice list! Something that might be worth adding for the RME Fireface UCX: It can be bus-powered if using firewire.

Recording and Monitoring One's Own Vocals

I'll give it a shot, but what I wish I could do, would be to somehow turn off my brain's ability to hear my own resonance. I use headphones because I want to hear what's going through the chain and nothing else, and I tend to crank them to drown my own self out as best I can.

Recording and Monitoring One's Own Vocals

I was trying to monitor with processing so that I could make adjustments, but I think the adjustments I was making were off because I wasn't hearing how it really sounded. Admittedly I need to work on both things. I've been playing guitar a lot longer than I've been singing, so I need to get...

Recording and Monitoring One's Own Vocals

Definitely. I wasn't happy with it, but my wife seemed to like it. So what work-arounds are there, if any?

Recording and Monitoring One's Own Vocals

So I recorded a vocal track last night and it sounds lousy. The drum, bass, and guitar tracks all sound really good. I couldn't figure out why there was such a discrepancy between what I was hearing in headphones and what I was hearing in my DAW. The vocals were much thinner and badly EQed. The...

Sony Acid Music 9.0 Need help with Mix Down

To mix down to stereo, all you have to do is go to File and choose "Render as..." and you'll be able to choose the format (wav, mp3, etc.). Is that what you were looking to know?

Panning For Acid Music Studio 9

In the track header area, you should be able see the word "Pan" and a slider to its right. If you can't, try dragging the bottom of the track header to make it larger.

    moving files with Acid 7

Unfortunately you may have to update each project file individually. File paths are stored within '.acd' files. The changes you made in Preferences will hold for new projects, but it won't alter the old ones. However, if it makes anything easier, after Acid finds your first file, it should have...

    Any Zoom G3 users?

I have the G2.1u. I really like it. I like all of the effects and the distortions. There are only two things I don't like with it. One is the onboard compression. I just don't like much how it sounds. I have it turned off for most of my patches. The other is that it's stereo output only, but it...

    Note or Sound Dropouts

So, it would seem that the thing I suspected the least was the problem. I made a significant upgrade from my PreSonus FireStudio Mobile to an RME Fireface UCX. I'm really loving the Fireface so far. And more importantly, I've gone through several of my drum tracks several times and it literally...

    To Upgrade KitCore or Not

I've been having some troubles with my drum machine lately and am considering moving to a VST plugin. With Sony Acid Pro, you also get the basic KitCore plugin - the one with 8 different drum kits. They all sound good, but they also seem to all have reverb on them. I tried using the Matt Sorum...

    Note or Sound Dropouts

Arg. This is getting ridiculous. Nothing's been solved yet. I tried selecting all of my snare events and shifting them over a few ticks. No difference. I listened to the project (which is just a single drum track) at half-tempo. No difference.

    Note or Sound Dropouts

Update: I just tried outputting my drum machine directly to a pair of speakers. It still skips the occasional note.
