just be careful how much color you want..... like the manual says, it's easy to add 12 or more db gain reduction without knowing it. :eek:

Okay, here is blatantly obvious question #1 from Andrew: I have an Omni I/O..... I know how to operate everything on that, that's not the question.... I only record into that.. I have no midi, no adat, no other digital equipment stuff... other than a few outboard pres and compressors, that's...

okay, so a lot of people have mentioned using both analog and digital when tracking.... such as the reference to butch vig and what not.... but why are people mentioning recording to digital, THEN sending it to tape and back into the computer? wouldn't it make far more sense to record to tape...

IK just recently released a version of T-Racks that operates within pro tools..... a lot more options than the stand alone program.... if you already have pro tools and don't yet have t-racks, might as well check it out.

Yeah.... if you record on a daw or whatever, just reverse your vocals.... then reverb it or whatever... then reverse it again. that's basically the trick they use during the verses of "everything in its right place", that one real glossy harmony that just seems to be gliding along, never...

this effect would never be used by softer bands like pink floyd, and I'm pretty sure radiohead would never even want to touch it... hell, it's so far out there I can't even find something to constructively use it on, but......... gotta go with the dod buzz box. this thing is INSANE!!!!! delay...

cominginsecond, how is that penta? we (my band) have a vc6q and an omni i/o (delta 66 with dmp2 preamps), and I've been looking at the penta recently for a future purchase..... how's it stack up?

the rnc would work very well as a radio station compressor, as it does have a sidechain.

Hey man, I actually love the sound of a good ol' beta 58 on vocals a lot of the time..... if it works, it works... by the way, what preamp are you plugging this $3 wonder into?

yeah, lately I've been more keen on cutting the meequalizer out of the track altogether..... now I only use it for an effect, like for when I want a really bad vocal distortion sound.... get our singer to cup a beta 58, yell, and boost 1.6k by about 8 db and cut everything else by that much.

The Meek is very different from most compressors in that it uses a light cell inside the unit to reduce gain. While VCA-style compressors (such as the bluetube) have a defined threshold level (anywhere from -40 to +15) where the compression kicks in, the meek slowly compresses all the way...

Ummm, you mean the other way around, right? Cause tracking at 1.2:1 ratio is hardly any compressor at all......
