Nah, what do you use to listen to Opera and Piano now? If you know your system well, and you know what voices sound like and what piano sounds like on your playback system, that will suffice. Just be sure to check out the recordings in different systems to make sure it translates well.

I'll leave the computer stuff to the computer experts, but that system should be able to handle what you want to do. Here's what I would get for a front end to that computer. It will cost a little more than 1000 bucks, but maybe you could sell some blood or something. First you need a...

What's Your Favorite Mic For Acoustic Guitar?

I recently fell in love with a B.L.U.E Mouse on acoustic guitar. But it ultimately comes down to what sound you want.

    sm58, with or without top?

Yes. The thing to do is try it, see if it works for you. I've miced many kits with only three mics (sometimes only two) and got great results. You really have to play with your mic placement though.

    sm58, with or without top?

Re: absolutely I would try using the 58 (with ball off), and the 57 as overheads. With proper positioning you'll get good balance of the drums.

    Rode Nt-1... Hip Hop/ Rap-rock Vocals...

It depends, I would get the Marshall v67 before I get the C1 if I were you. They are close enough in sound that you would probably not hear the difference. After that it comes down to what's your color prefernce.

    Rode Nt-1... Hip Hop/ Rap-rock Vocals...

The NT-1 is really harsh and grainy for my tastes. I think you would be better off with an SM-58. Seriously.
