    when the pattern changes, so does the sound. Multiple patterns can be very useful in helping you find a useable tone.

    Whats your budget? You certainly record a whole band with only two mics, it's being done all the time. The rub lies in the room, you really have to have a great room to do it it. Hell, you really need good mics and pres too. So what do you want? Depends on the "quality" you want.
