    Crazy good bass players!

I really like Flea, but imo live they kinda suck... And Stu Hamm... I didn't really knew the guy and I found a video where he does a solo thing on a concert (he plays Moonshine Sonata, does some tapping and goes into a slapped country thing).. At the end of his solo moment the audience is...

    Upgrading gear, NEED YOUR OPINIONS!!

There're sooooo much options out there... pick one solution and learn to work with it. Delta 1010, C-port, Digi 001 and Aardvark Q10 are very popular. The 001 has the benefit of having 8 analog and 8 digital I/O, but digidesign are the Microsoft of the audio business: nobody likes them, but...

    Dual Monitor Setup.

I love duals too, but *really* want them to be identical screens, being LCD or CRT, it doesn't matter, but right now it's a 19" CRT (1280x1024) and a 15" LCD (800x600) and the different screen sizes make me quite nuts. I want two 19" LCDs at 1600x1200 ! :D Herwig

    This is a rack!!

pffft...you ain't see nothing yet. check out the gearslutz.com forums, they had a rack pic thread which completely blows this set away... but they're in another league, that's nashville studio's etc.... Herwig

    Crazy good bass players!

...about Victor Wooten... I'm having this 'quest for the ultimate sound'-thing going on right now and I saw the Bass Day '98 video the other day where Wooten's playing in duo and trio and explaining his thumb technique ('all it takes is a little coordination' :D :D ).. As far as I could see, he...

Thanks Harvey, and regebro too up to a certain level :D ;) Herwig

Which do you prefer: Racks or effects plugins?

Indeed, with a UAD, mackie control and dual monitor setup you're hands on, but almost at the price of going outboard. Most of us here can't afford a UAD or have other priorities above a control surface. Herwig

    Mic Re-pre-amping - possible ???

:D I think I'll start out by getting a radar, 24 pre's and some experience first. :p Herwig

    which snake?

I think Hosa will do just fine in a permanent setup, but not if you plan on redesigning your wiring every month. The cable is good, it's the connectors that are bad and they will become unreliable ... Herwig

    Bass Wiring Help

Hmmm... I thought I'd help you out by looking at the wiring in my MM Stingray 5 (3band eq), but that's active EQ meaning there's a circuit board in it, so it's wiring we *definitely* be different from the OLP's... sorry, can't help. Herwig

    Mic Re-pre-amping - possible ???

chess: I know it's common with guitar/bass tracks, but not with microphone tracks ... the drum thing seems a cool possibility. The reason I had this thought is because I'm playing with the idea of having a mobile studio: a 24track recorder and 24 pre's (clean ones, like the lineaudio.se ones)...

    MackieHR824 HELP!!!!

I went the Behringer route... I use the mixer as a volume pot and to route a few stereo signals to the speakers and phones. Samson makes this C-control thing I noticed though... costs €150 over here (http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1650&brandID=2) but I'm a bit...

    MackieHR824 HELP!!!!

When you reverse the cables is the right then louder than the left ? If so it's the computer, if not it's the speaker or it's input. Herwig

Which do you prefer: Racks or effects plugins?

plug-ins = a poor man's hardware... UAD-1 and Powercore-type plugs sound incredible, but at that price you could consider going outboard. Depends on the setup I guess. Herwig

what have i done? CD-roms dissappeared..

This is a common problem with Win98 - I've read about it before, and had the chance of having it myself once on my dad's comp. I *think* you can get the CD's back by just doing a "Search for new hardware..." again, but I'm not to sure about that... google surely knows. Herwig

Audio and resistance (Ohms) ??? The big question

Hi y'all, I have these question regarding resistance in audio for a long time... maybe there's someone out there that could explain a few things to me ?? 1) mic's, mic-level, line-level, Hi-Z, Lo-Z.... Mic and line inputs expect a low resistance, right ? And instruments (bass, guitar) provide...

    Mic Re-pre-amping - possible ???

Hi all, Yesterday while driving I had this idea... would it be possible to do some kind of re-amping like guitars, but with microhpone signals ? This could be a cool feature when eg. doing a live recording: you record a band with a set of clean preamps and add 'colo(u)r' later ... Off course...

need some advice on decision regarding pro tools...

play around with it, decide which setup sounds better or is easier to use and sell the other setup. Both setups have some value in the home-market. Herwig
