    Mixers?

Personally I only record track per track, and use the different colors in the mixer's pre's ... channel one on the behringer sounds like a monday (=it's broken), channel two sounds like wednesday (=only the bottom half of the fader works) channel five sounds like saturday night (=the treble...

working with 8 tracks simultaneously on pc

read the big thread in the Microphone forum, it'll clear some microphone related things up for you and there's some nice guys in there that know which mics to buy. As for the rest: the Q10 is quite a complete package to start with. The thing with monitors vs. HiFi speakers is that monitors are...

    File Organization?

(actually most of my drives resemble Slack's way of doing things ;) ) I personally never felt the need for RAID.. Safety ? if I need to have something save I'll write it on a CD... 80Gigs go a long way. punkin: I don't know how your recording/life/music is organised, I'm guessing you're doing...

why are we still mixing in mono?

Actually there was an interesting discussion over at the Yahoo-Acoustics forum about 5.1... Someone in there mentioned there's no good/accurate room designs for 5.1 monitoring yet, another one said the center channel was a waste of channels, it should've been used as overhead channel, the...

a bunch of questions in one for a musician...

scsi is way to expensive. Don't go there, you won't benefit from it. You only do if you're like running a gazillion drives at the same time. ATA100/133 will do just fine. If budget allows, invest in a second HDD like the guys mention. There's been some voodoo about HDD's with 8Mb cache as...

    File Organization?

Everybody's his/her owxn way of organising... MY way: 2 comps, one for internet/office, one DAW - that's already a good separation between internetfiles and audio/music. (the office box is hooked to the monitors, so I can listen to HR.com/mp3forum as well) On the DAW there's two HDDs (no swap...

working with 8 tracks simultaneously on pc

Hi, Well... there's a whole bunch of solutions out there, like you mentioned. A fairly general rule is: cheap equipment will most of the time sound cheap.. You worked out a budget, but would that include microphones, software, a set of monitors, cable,... ?? If not, you may have to take...

    Anyone have the Aardvark Q10?

;) 1.5 years ago I decided to go with a C-port - Behringer mixer because at the time the Q10 still had driver problems + it would cost me 200-300$ more than the Cport/Behrie combination. I now regret that... the C-port is a fantastic piece of equipment, but the mixer is ... you know ...

    The Lowdown Remix

If you ask these questions, I'm in serious doubt if you actually BOUGHT 2 times 2 programs that do the same thing.... Herwig

    Anyone have the Aardvark Q10?

IMO that's a feature you only find on +2,000$ equipment... not homerecording/prosumer. You can always use an output and input for that purpose. Herwig

    Monitors... Which ones?

Yikes! You will regret that. How can you make an honest decision on what speakers you like just be the looks or reviews?? I know this is a discussion beat to death, but peoples taste and ears differ greatly! 'stuckpreis'= price per piece, so double that up for your pair. I haven't seen...

Can someone identify what bass guitar is used in this track?

Rubo4: I was not trying to sound like some smartass, nor was it my intention to sound denigrating to you. It's just that I happen to play bass for a living and that I have some experience in listening to bass sounds. If I can find the time next week I'll try to record you some examples if you...

Can someone identify what bass guitar is used in this track?

I don't think you're getting the point here... The brand of the bass IS NOT the defining factor. I'm really, really sure that if you play on a Jazz it will sound different than when I play on it... It's a combination of player, instrument, cable, strings, age of strings, technique, recording...

    Power for guitar pedals.

LOL! We used to have Radio Shack, but they basically left Europe.. AFAIK there is only one store left in Belgium, but I know a few electronic parts shops and a good electrician, he'll know what to do with the parts. Many thanks anyway for the info, I'll try to build one (or let it be build for...

    Avalon VT-737SP

Well, about anybody that has one will shoot anyone coming to close to their unit. They seem to be *very* good on anything you run through it. (at that price, I wouldn't expect otherwise) Herwig (wants a 737 for his bass but will have to go for a U5)

    Gear on the brain

Yeah... when I come into my room I always see faders, knobs, monitors, screens, keyboards, instruments ... man, what a trip .. hey ! wait a minute .... it's for real ! There really IS gear present in my room .... Yeah, cool ! :D  :p Herwig (what year...

Can someone identify what bass guitar is used in this track?

IMO you can make any bass sound like that. Squash the signal with a compressor, add maxxbass type plug. It's 90% certain a keyboard, like an old analog synth. And sounds don't mean nothing. I was able to convince some people of playing a vintage P-bass... while I actually played a 2001 boutique...

    Another fine offering from Behringer

IMO those brands are all the same bunch.. Samson and Behrie have a wee little too many similarities in their designs to be original, just a different color and knobs. Actually Bearsinger is one of the most allround companies I know of, and they keep expanding their product line (no comment on...
