New video! I have been using hi-quality recording gear for many years and wanted to know how good sound can you get with a 149 € drum mic set and 199 € preamp/converter. I'm pretty sure this is a very common beginner scenario. Let me know what you think!
I have recently updated the eBook to version 1.1 with some minor bug fixes. The price has not changed. It's still pay-what-you-want! If you have already bought it, you can use the original download link to get the new version.
I have created some videos to support the upcoming release. Remember, it will be a pay-what-you-want e-book.

Here's a two mic drum recording and mix I did few days ago. Gotta love this technique :)
Microphones used:
- AKG D112
- Oktava MK-012 MSP2 (Michael Joly modded).
Both were recorded through an Api 312 clone preamp into RME ADI-8 Pro converter.
Some of you might remember this guide. Well, it's been almost five years since I wrote it. I'm currently writing an e-book on the subject. Check out the trailer!

Thanks! I just melodyne'd the vocals in 10 minutes. Maybe something went wrong :)
Just the normal parallel compression and stuff. Nothing unusual.
Edit: It was not Melodyne. I will fix the vocals.
I don't get it? Techno? I updated my mix a bit:

I changed the limiter and did some level adjustments.
I've been mixing this now for a few hours. I really like the HUGE room tracks. Did you say 1000 sq feet? I agree that there's no reason not to make the drums huge. I think I'm going to do this without any added reverb! No sample replacement either.
I wrote a drum recording guide and added it to FaderWear Guides. Check it out and let me know what you think! The goal was to make it as simple as possible without making it a "beginner guide". I wanted to keep it interesting to professionals as well. Let me know how I succeeded :)...
Thank you! It's a sample mixed with the original track. Both tracks were sent to a group and compressed together with CamelPhatFree. No EQ this time. It's mostly the sample you are hearing.
I'm sorry it took so long to answer but I somehow missed your question!
