    Recording Acoustic Guitar(s)

How do you mean? I'm not sure how this situation could mean more finger squeak than your average acoutsic gutiar session. Then again, I'm running on minimal sleep so maybe I'm just loopy. Also, I think a very small amount of finger squeak can be kinda cool.

    Recording Acoustic Guitar(s)

Actually the only other instrument that will be on the tune is piano, so no, it's a pretty thin piece. I'm sort of holding out for the same idea. I'll have a lot of "space" in the track to work with so hopefully the oddities will sort of give it a bigger, more lively feel.

    Recording Acoustic Guitar(s)

I have a pretty sizeable live room so I can get reasonable distance between them. Obviously the cardioid thing will help. I like the idea of a dynamic though. Even though they're not my favorite for acoustic gee-tars, it might help in this situation. Maybe I'll just do a couple of takes with 57s...

    Recording Acoustic Guitar(s)

Greetings all! I have a session tonight in which the 2 artists both play acoustic guitar. They are pretty insistant that we track their guitar part at the same time in the same room. It's nearly a unison part (with one part being slightly more intricate). Is this a horrible idea? Any suggestions...

Need advice on outboard gear purchase

UUmmm......wouldn't contacting a Mastering Engineer be the right answer here? Obviously it all starts with tracking, but assuming you have a good source and mix, you're going to need to have your stuff professionally mastered to get that "polished" sound that you are looking for that you hear on...

    SONY just bought Sonic Foundry!

Well, it says "Worlds finest headphones..." at the top of the page so it must be true! Kidding, I'm kidding! Actually, I've heard that Grado is more of an Audiophile's headphone. They sound really niiiiice but don't necessarily give a flat response compared to the Sonys or AKGs. I wasn't trying...

    Behringer MX802A

I'm not a basher either but these mixers give off an exceptional amount of noise. Don't get me wrong, for the price, you can't beat Behringer stuff, but indeed, you get what you pay for. J

    SONY just bought Sonic Foundry!

Gee, a whole $20 for headphones and they sounded bad??? Can't imagine why. Try the 7506's. Best cans on the market. I used a Sony VAIO as my first DAW and it worked like a champ. No I don't work for Sony either, but I agree that they are one of the last good big companies.

What mic's are "always on the stand"

Ah Ha Oh, I know what those are. I thought BlueBear was referring to some magical mic dehumidifying thingy. My Wife has about a gazillion shoe boxes in our closet. I bet I can find some there. Thanks for the insight Speeddemon!

M-Audio BX8 Studiophile Hey C-9, where are you finding the M-Audio BX8 Studiophile for $380? The best I can get is $450. I found plenty of the smaller M-Audios for cheaper but no BX8s. Thanks! J

Trying to mimic a vocal effect.. please help!

Yup, if it's the effect that I'm thinking of, we use it in some radio spots that we cut. Like RoadKill says, cut the highs and lows generously. I usually boost 1K - 5K. A small amout of reverb is good too. Hope that's what you are looking for.
