The reel I'm looking at is Quantegy GP9. It tells you that,and the size and length on the left side of the label. On the right side of the label,there are 2 rows of numbers: 380400120405 2000073 That's how it looks. Any ideas?

I can't be of any actual help,having absolutely zero experience with open reel recording. However,my 8-track Otari arrived yesterday,and it is literally awesome looking.Built like an M1 Abrams tank. I'm looking forward to learning how to use it.

Actually,when looking at their pricing,I have a hard time believing that they will be making anything that is affordable for the average guy.I sure hope they do,but I'm not exactly counting on it. That company appears to me to be geared towards the recording professionals,and not home hobbyists...

Getting the SR-16 was strictly a money issue. The Boss is $350 around town,but I got the SR-16 on ebay for a third of that. Maybe after income tax refund..........

Why exactly am I hosed? Would I have been better off with something else,like a Boss DR-770?
