Questions about 100 watt Fender Bassman head

The head is a silverface, from the CBS ownership era. I'm pretty sure one of the transformers burned up a couple of years ago. It's been out of commission since then. Planning on having it repaired soon. Will it be difficult to find parts that will work on this thing, such as a new transformer...

Not seeing any input level indications on my Otari

The cables arrived just a few minutes ago. Attached them from my Mackie mixer to the Otari, and now the signal is arriving just as it is supposed to. VU meters are working fine, and headset volume will explode your brain,if you desire. Definitely was a cabling issue. Now,to get something recorded!!

Not seeing any input level indications on my Otari

Thanks for the reply, and I think you are right. I've contacted the seller, and he is sending me the cables he built to use with the machine. I'll save the info you posted as well.

Not seeing any input level indications on my Otari

Haven't had much time to mess with this thing, and it is probably just my ignorance-but here goes: I've tried recording onto a track two times, with no luck yet. 1.First try was with an SM-58,directly in.Just barely had the indicator move on the VU meter, and didn't hear anything on playback after...

Reel flanges arrived today-did I do this right?

Assembled them to the pancake of 256,and noticed that there was a bigger gap between flanges in one spot.Hmm... Saw that the tape isn't actually installed onto the hub very carefully. It is as if the winding machine at the factory has a flat surface like a flange, that the hub is attached to while...

Ebay & Analog: Now I think I've seen everything!

Well-you'd think that the serial number of the original unit is likely on a tag somewhere on that box. If you stick a different unit in there, then it still isn't "original". Correct packaging-yes. Original-no.

Which calibration tape do I need?

The guy I bought it from said it was set up for 456. It also says in the manual that the factory setting is for Scotch 226,which appears to be equal to Ampex/Quantegy 456. P.5-6 of the manual says that the 226 and 456 has reference flux of 250 nWb/m,relative level of +2.6db,and is MRL NAB...
