    Rewrite!! Feedback anyone?

I'll say something if you like  Your lyrics are dark man, really dark. I'm not really dark enough to trully appreciate them but I'll look past that and try and give you my unbiased opinion. There's bits of brilliance and there's some bits you may want to work on. I'll start with...

    Jimmy Page's low-slung guitar position.

I've always played my guitar long slung like this, I started to learn because I wanted to be like Slash - who started to learn cos he wanted to be like Page. I think the point is if you lean like that from the start its perfectly natural. It may sound odd but I feel uncomfortable playing a...

Two computers...dumb suggestion or the king of ideas?

Thats exactly what I want to do, I'm not entirely sure whats hogging all the CPU thats the problem. I do have a lot of audio tracks on this recording (about 28) but I dont really have the time to start bouncing stuff down to less tracks, you're supposed to be able to mix without bouncing things...

How much of that solo did you "write" ?

I try and play the whole song in one take without punch-ins, so I'd forget how many triplet sets were in that run and stuff if I didn't write it down

How much of that solo did you "write" ?

Since I promised myself to double track as much of my playing as possible, I've found myself literally sitting down and tabbing out bits of my own playing so I can get it spot on - is this really what most guitarists do? or am I being overly fussy and should I just single-track the solos? I'm...

    What is "the perfect song"?

The perfect song is YOUR favourite song, whoever you are. If lots of people have the same perfect song then that song becomes perfect for lots of people, but no matter how good it is, someone, somewhere, is always gonna prefer something else. ps. I cant believe this question has gone onto 2...

Two computers...dumb suggestion or the king of ideas?

I've heard of cubase LE but never tried it, does anyone know what the limitations are? Also, on the wikipedia page for reaper it says it supports ReWire, can anyone with the program verify this for me? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REAPER I'm swaying towards just getting Reaper and using that...

Newbie home recording workflow: Tell me how I can improve it

I'd say the clicking and popping is almost definately down to your processor not being fast enough, close down all other services running on the computer and disconnect the network card. You really really need to get a recording sound card though, then not only will everything sound better but...

    Cubase and metronome issue

    Cubase and metronome issue

...oh and if you get a digital metronome and put the tempo in exactly there's no reason why it wont stay in time, this is the 21st century. Or you could download a metronome program for your PC that flashes a light or something

    Cubase and metronome issue

Do you have a MIDI keyboard or any thing? you could send the metronome out as a MIDI signal and plug it into a keyboard with headphones so the MIDI keyboard is generating the clicks and the audio channel is click-free Or you could get an external metronome and tap the exact tempo in, then start...

Two computers...dumb suggestion or the king of ideas?

Okay so my processor's struggling, I can only run about four seperate reverbs/delays, it takes a lunar week to mix down my songs and I have to disable EVERYTHING else running on it to get a decent MIDI latency. I know, I know, I need a new PC, but I want to save up some money and get the...

second real song mix. pop song. please donate your constructive criticism :)

the guitars sound very fuzzy and lo-fi, its cool at a glance but I feel by the time the solo guitar comes in with the same thin sound, it starts to go from cool&lofi to amateurish - reverb and EQ some high-mid out? Also, it might be just me but the crash cymbal is panned right and it seems to...

    Hard Rock Mix

i like this :) I think its well mixed and the guitar sound rocks. I pretty much agree with whats been said, the drums sound like they've been sequenced on MIDI, you could try different samples for the snare and add some dynamics by making the second snare in the verse beat a tad quieter (the...

Hard Rock - Can anyone help?

Hi guys thanks for the advice :) I've had another go at mixing it based on what you all said. I spent a while on the kick drum and listening back I think I've over-compensated by making it too loud - however, I want you guys to hear this mix so you can really hear the kick track I'm working...

Hard Rock - Can anyone help?

Hi this is the second MP3 I've uploaded after taking onboard everything you guys said about the first one. We were going for a very hard, heavy sound which a lot of you may not like but please try to look past this and give me some advise on what I need to work on? Many thanks John Lennon
