Please listen and review.. Home recordings!

Really god stuff. Way too eclectic to form any kind of album or even gig in my view. From one song to the next I didn't know which continent you were from let alone which genre. I won't pick nits on the recordings because I think they're at a level where any suggested changes are purely...

    Beatles - Norweigian Wood cover

I think the strings are horrible. I think the recording would work really well without them. You talk about double tracking the guitar and I don't think it needs it but if you are trying to evoke the 12 string sound of the original, you could try messing about with some chorus effects, or even...

New original song. How are the drums specifically?

It's hard to be objective about the drums after you asking us all to get out our magnifying glasses and examine them (perhaps it would have been better to put the song up for comment and get unbiased views on the drums) but, apart from a few hesitant kicks at the beginning, I thought you did a...

    Please check out this song

Great to hear this type of music again - haven't heard t in 20 years! Love it!

    honest replies please =)

It's probably a very personal view but I think, because the drums are unplayable by a real person, they should sound less real (if that makes sense) and they don't have to be in your face. I'd mess with the effects on them to see does it improve things. Have a listen to this:

While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Acoustic Cover)

Certainly interesting, and in spite of the fact that he hasn't made any attempt to follow the chords, I have to applaud it! I't is a little too removed from the original for me to love it but I would love to hear a version by your mate that somewhat follows the chords. It sounds to me that the...

    Electronic (mostly) EP

I like what you are doing in Black dub. I think your fusion is far more interesting than your pure Electronic.

A pro-soccer team anthem? A little diddy from the studio.

This mix sounds way better. The drums sound fine to me but I'm not a drummer. I agree with Greg on the clarity issue - I still can't decipher the words on the chant other than "Salt Lake" and "RSL". You could play with the EQ but I'm not sure it is sung clearly enough. I'd say bring down the...

A pro-soccer team anthem? A little diddy from the studio.

I'd agree with the previous posts. If this is to be played at a game it will have to be mixed with the vocals much clearer. The words aren't clear to me and I'm listening on phones, people in a noisy stadium wouldn't have a chance of picking it up. Catchy chorus though.

    Suffragette City

:D:D:D Seriously though, good mix & version... nice & heavy, though I'm not sure adding the lead guitar answer bit to the intro adds anything. Did I hear some claps way down there in the mix? Bring em up if I did.

    First Organic Recording

Nothing wrong with the levels for me. As Manslick pointed out the chord progression is superb. When it starts out you think you know exactly where the song is going but then the major chords kick in an the thing gets really interesting. I can't believe you can play fiddle like that after 1...

    My First HomeRecording

Lovely piece, very well performed. Sounds like you are not using a pop shield - a few breaths are audible on the mic. The piano sounds a bit artificial to me - I think it needs to sound real, preferably like an upright, a bit of short reverb might help. You have a lovely voice and I really like...

    New Songs - Feedback on Mix/Songwriting :)

In spite of the fact that its not really my genre, I really like this track. It reminds me of the Streets with a bit of Lightning Seeds on the chorus. I love the strings coming in at 2.00. I agree with J above about the trumpet. It competes with the vocal line rather than complimenting it. Try...

Mixing / Mastering / Drum job for another group's song.

Im not sure my ears are sophisticated enough to detect which mix is better but I think it's very unfortunate that the lead guitar intro is flat as this creates your first impression of the song and takes away from the fact that it is otherwise well put together and well recorded. Nice drums as...

    Composing Drums

Hi Gaz, Generally I hear the kick beat when I run through the song in my head and build the beat from there. I'm a MacBook user too and used to be Cubase based however I started messing around with Garageband and the built in drum loops (audio & midi) helped to fix a lot of my drum problems...

    Normalizing

Chibi is right, you have got to use your ears! If you had lots of money, you would go to a studio to get the backing tracks mastered. This would sort out the volume levels and EQ to make them sound consistent in the studio. In reality though, when you play live, different backing tracks need...

    Blinded needs mix feedback

There appears to be some timing issues here. Are you using a click track? Otherwise the snare is a bit harsh for me. Not a bad song but the recording is not enhancing it.

I think a lot of this is good use of reverb... Nice.
