You have not had a good Tascam experience. Didn't Tascam make the base Fostex units?

I did a photospectral analysis of his lubricant. It appears to be "sex wax". Makes sense since he was using it on the "head"!!! Should work great.

So do I. Went through whole unit yesterday and nothing seems out of line, and while that's no absolute at least there does not appear to be any visible evidence of a toasted part.

Cory gave good advice. By recapping the power supply you should notice cleaner detail, and for sure the machine will require calibration. Maybe you could do the upgrades and then have someone locally calibrate the unit.

So what did you do then to correct your record problem?

What is the Function A PCB and where is it in manual? I'll look that up to see if similar to 48.
