  • Sorry for the delay man.
I just checked out Cortez without a map. Dude, this song is really good. The level seems to drop off a bit for a sec, but it is very very cool. Very atmospheric. I especially like the mellotron vibe(kind of like your name). It's pretty trippy, and it's an interesting listen. "Heavy" would be a good word to describe it. I would post it.
could you check out a song I wrote last spring and let me know what you make of it? i can't muster the courage to post it in the mixing clinic, since it wasn't really recorded seriously; the second verse was improvized.

it seems the harder i try to make a good song, the worse the sound quality/song overall turns out. the more i try to make the parts simple and spontaneous, the more not-epicfail my song's tend to turn out.

    it's kind of deathcab/beckish. it's here: http://www.last.fm/music/Simulache/_/Cortez+Without+a+Map
    Hey,

Did you check out Chad VanGaalen yet? If you haven't, you should check out his music video for the song that got me hooked:

Probably his most popular. Definitely my favorite, at least. A lot of people say he reminds them of Neil Young, especially his voice...Probably why he reminds me of Grandaddy too. Cool thing too about him is that he's basically a home recordist selling records out of his apartment studio.

Just to let you know, I'm still trying to get into analog recording, mostly to see what it's like recording in the medium and to have a convenient sketch pad for demos.
