Not experiencing clipping

Im using an asio4all driver because my laptops is terrible. When i turn the samples all the way down to like 256 i dont get any clipping in the indicator on reason. Why is this? i thought that i would at least experience some at the lowest setting

The sample buffer has nothing to do with clipping. If a buffer is too low and you hear clicks and pops, that is called buffer underrun.

Clipping has to do with the amount of audio level you are feeding into your interface. Too much level and it will clip.

So, if you are turning the samples down and have no buffer underruns that means your hardware is powerful enough to run at that sample level. As you begin to add effects and more tracks you might have to adjust the buffer.
