QUESTIONS ABOUT RECORDING ANALOG ST YLE

To record a Keyboard or Synthesizer do I use a guitar lead which connects into the headphone output of the keyboard and then the guitar lead through the preamp to the analog mixer.

Using a EXTERNAL EQUALISER, if I want to record the whole track, to which input of the analog mixer do I connect the equaliser to. Which cable should I also use, e.g "Y" Cable
Thankyou:)

That is the perfect section to post things related to old school recording :D

This is really just about I/O's... Nothing "old school" about it.

Yes, output goes to input. The other part -- Y-Cables and "using the whole track" -- You've got me confused...

First, I would hope that your keyboard has left and right line outputs, so you don't have to use the headphone jack. You would either run and instrument cable (guitar lead) to a direct box then into a mic preamp. If the preamp has a line input, plug the cable into that. In fact, since a keyboard is a line level device, just plug it into the recorder.

If you are talking about inserting an EQ on a channel, you need and insert cable. Plug the TRS end of the insert cable into the insert jack on the channel you wish to insert it on. Then plug the 'send' side of the insert cable to the input of the EQ and the 'return' side to the output of the EQ.
