Loud room vocal audio cleanup

Hi Guys. I hope this is in the right place but I'm after a bit of a hero. I recently got back from a trip to a convention with a bunch of interviews recorded, however all of the audio from the card got completely corrupted and I am now stuck with the cameras on board audio as the only audio I have. It is not good to say the least.

The room is very loud and you can barely hear the interview over the noise. I have tried using noise reduction in Audition to remove some of the general room sound which is helping but isn't too great. My knowledge on this is limited so I wondered if anyone has any tips/techniques that I could try to maximise what I have. I'm not expecting perfection/just something that it is audible. Any help you could give would be HUGELY appreciated.

It won't let me add a link to the file but I can supply one if anyone would like to hear what I am talking about.

Without hearing it we could easily lead you in the wrong direction. If you're using Audition I assume there's a multi-band EQ with it? What you could get started with is a 12 band EQ or the like. The more bands the better. As you begin to adjust the bands you will likely find a number of offending frequencies that are veiling your vocal. You'll probably need to lower some bands and raise others. Nothing will work 100% for that problem but you may find you can rescue it to the point where it's usable.

If you are serious I can try to help. PM me and I will give it a shot.

Phil also posted this on the SOS forum with a link to the audio. The wanted audio is very similar to the unwanted audio (two voices amongst many other voices) so not easy to isolate. I suspect that there may be very specialist software that could be trained to isolate certain voices but I doubt that general purpose audio tools like Audition or RX would make more than a minor difference.
